For VC...

Dr Lister, secretary and health policy academic at the group Keep Our NHS Public, said: “Virgin continues to play a parasitic role in the NHS, fragmenting services and poaching NHS-trained staff and undermining nearby NHS trusts.

This is made worse by the fact that the company pays no corporation tax and therefore only takes resources from the public sector while contributing nothing of value.

“The fact the firm is not making a profit suggests its continued involvement with the NHS is either based on ideological opposition to public services or a series of loss leader contracts hoping to force the prices up and cash in later.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------

None of this makes Branson a.

He isn’t making any profits off the NHS. That is factual. You only have one disgruntled person suggesting why he isn’t making a profit. Not proof of why.

The fact is he isn’t when he easily could.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He’s proved himself to be an utter unt during this pandemic alone, along with Ashley and that rancid Wetherspoon’s creature.

The public must not forget.

What else are you trying to f-cking claim your moron. You made a similar comment about meeting Rooney and Carrick at a meet the fans after training session once and claimed you gained some sort of understanding of them.

I have no idea why ‘Keep it Greasy’ could possibly have an issue with Branson doing that what so ever. It opened it up for other airlines as well as his own.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't say I had an issue with it

But don't be fooled that he was doing it for any sort of misplaced altruism - it was solely profit oriented and he's made billions of pounds off the back of it.

Now he wants US to put our hand in our pockets because he's going to lose a few quid over the next couple of months.

THAT'S what I take issue with

Rooney, Carrick, DDG ,Ando and Paddy Crerand to be exact. Pretty sure the only claims I have made from that is that Ando translated for DDG which I found odd because one spoke Portuguese and the other Spanish.

And that Paddy was hammered.

Feel free to copy and paste exactly what I said if you wish. You seem to be having a lot of trouble with that.

....

He was doing it to get his airline footing in the USA. What was wrong with that?

VC complaining that someone hasn’t copied and pasted a whole comment, how ironic. Adding the bit in the middle makes no different to your completely irrelevant point regarding meeting Branson.

As far as I am aware he hasn’t yet asked the Govt to do this, as of yesterday. Read the article I copied earlier in the issue from the BBC.

If you want to lie about what I said then I am going to bring it up.

If I ever lie about what you say feel free to bring that up and I will apologise. That is me being fair. Something you are incapable of with me.

Isn't more about staying afloat to keep the jobs going?
For example a company of say 500 people have to pay a salary of about £1Million a month

Companies like Virgin, Amazon etc... they will have to lay off people to stay afloat, this is bad news in the long run.
Amazon employ about 28K people in the UK not including the self employed who rely on Amazon in their business. It will be a BIG problem for the economy.

Another thing the money won't be free to the companies, it will likely be a loan or the government will have some type of holding in the companies which isn't really good deal for them.

On an alarming note the death rate to cases is really high and climbing. Is this because of the lack of testing for confirmed cases?

New York is now on a really steep climb. 200 dead just yesterday.

That question was to the U.K. by the way.

So, here we are, up to the neck in a pandemic. Hundreds of thousands ill, hospital beds filling up at an alarming rate, headed towards 20K having paid the ultimate price.

I carry no banner for the rich or super-rich. Well done them for their successes in the business world. Place for neither envy or hatred in their lives from me.

But we live in a democracy, we live in a capitalist world. That means good management of supply and demand, survival and getting as much bang for their buck as they can, and good luck to them all.

However, should they find themselves in ‘dire straits’ in whatever form, then they need to look on themselves and not go to any government asking, begging demanding money.

If they can’t survive by their own will, no matter how big they are, how important they see themselves, how crucial they are to the economy - yes, I fully take on board all the tax dodgers and evaders in their midst - then they can go to the wall.

With my blessing, obviously.

PS As an aside, when - not if - are the top clubs in the PL going to put their hands into their very deep pockets and help the clubs in the lower leagues survive?

We can always get another airline, sports shop etc. You can’t get a brand new third div club or a lower league club just like that. These clubs need support. They are where some of our next PL, world class players are learning their trade.

The German top clubs have put in €20M thus far. A pittance that the PL clubs, ours included, could at least treble.

Bail out the individuals (the workers) not the companies. Bring in legislation that facilitates a "pause" on business - rent holidays, no business rates etc.

But none of them do, or put in nothing more than token gestures, should be held in contempt given the obscene amounts of money they get. When you think clubs are at the heart of communities, it’s downright scuummy. I hope they change my opinion, but I doubt they will, they are greeedy bastaards

I find these debates very interesting.

Take Bezos for example. The amount of jobs that Amazon provide as well as the amount of competition they bring to the market and the amount of money they invest in innovation does provide additional jobs.

For example, how many more people have jobs in the Royal mail because of the additional capacity that Amazon packages bring to the network. I don't know the number but lots of new jobs and revenue has been created as a result.

These arguments are not always so straight forward.

'The amount of jobs that Amazon provide as well as the amount of competition they bring to the market and the amount of money they invest in innovation does provide additional jobs.'

Undoubtedly. However, you will need to assess all the jobs it has cost as well. And you'll need to assess the effect it has on reducing income as well as the chilling effect it also has on a lot of potential competition.

And you'll need to do that across many years and the entire globe to get any kind of balanced picture of the 'benefit' of companies like Amazon.

Look a little deeper and somehow, I don't think Joe Bloggs is doing very well out of their existence, but that's just my hunch.

Honestly, half the posters on here won't be happy with anything less than full socialism.

The lefties are always envious of the successful, they always see injustice and inquity everywhere rather than admiring hardwork, innovation, job creation, wealth generation, etc

No point arguing with them
