UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin says that if leagues cannot restart by the end f June, it is likely they cannot be finished.

"There is a plan A, B and C. We can start in May, in June or the end of June. If we can't do it on any of those then the season probably won't finish."

You missed the last part, you should have continued reading.

Lambeau mentioned it above.

You could resume the season and complete the fixtures, but this season has been compromised now, in no way can the season be completed fairly and without some kind of prejudice and detriment to the integrity of the leagues.

There would be too many variables at work now, too many "what ifs" and too many "if only`s" for the season to be considered fair and legitimate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Come on then I’ll bite as I’m bored, tell me how it wouldn’t be fair and legitimate
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I`ll give you one reason, clubs are now at different levels of fitness and some (like Spurs for example) now have key players returning to fitness whereas before they were injured for most of the remainder of the season. That is an unfair advantage in itself.

Having your own players fit isnt really an unfair advantage.

I think he means for others. Though I don’t think that’ll come into it.

"If then we wouldn't be able to do any of these, the season would probably be lost. There is also the possibility of ending this season at the start of the next, which would then be postponed, starting a little later.

......

It was according to Fergus Suter.

These guys want the league to enter contracts and bind itself over a season which might not happen at all. It sounds reasonable to them for a reason.

We are losing money this season so let's go ahead and put a noose around our necks for next season

A lot of the logic behind calls to cancel the season has absolutely no logic behind it. For most people on here, its all about stopping Liverpool.

Finishing the season whenever possible is the most cost effective, legally sound option available. It will leave everyone with nothing to complain about.

All other options cost an arm and a leg, yet people are jumping hoops with mental gymnastic reasoning to convince themselves otherwise. All the while accusing others of being unreasonable. Deep down it's all about stopping Liverpool and that's what's giving birth to some of these hilariously absurd notions and ideas.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tv and the majority of other club related relevant contracts such as its, merchandise etc for next season are already in place

you need to pipe down
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The same for this season.

In addition to that, this season is 75% played.

You pipe down

Why on earth would the season resume in August/September thus preventing the 20/21 season to be played in full? The whole of next season will not be chucked under the bus for a 1/4 of this one.

I know that Liverpool fans on here think that anybody who holds this view only does so because they don't want them to win the league. I would suggest they get used to the idea that its a perfectly reasonable thing to think regardless of what club the individual supports.
-----
I haven't seen any Liverpool fans suggesting that next season be cancelled. We'd prefer if both seasons were played. The only people suggesting at season be cancelled are non Liverpool fans. That should tell you something saan.

This season will take a month or two to complete and UEFA president says its possible.

But Covid is a special circumstance. They'll have to take it on the chin.

You want a season cancelled because of covid but then cry about one or two players returning to fitness.

Is Covid a big deal or not? Make your mind up saan.

All this ignores the fact that these games could be played behind closed doors without too much effort.

Players quarentine as a club at favoured location for three weeks, likewise necessary cut back staff and security etc. After three weeks tested for virus after quarentine. Coached to stadium or training facility, play game.

We can manage to quarentine ourselves so i am sure multi million pound businesses can manage it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’re still going to get food etc brought to them so there’s no guarantee 1 person wouldn’t get it than pass it on to others.

Hence why large gatherings aren’t allowed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Large gatherings are allowed, they are called supermarkets. Tested after three weeks like i said, if clear, good to go. Shop workers are going into work every single day so i am sure footballers could give it a shot for 90 minutes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you seen the supermarkets now?

Only a handful allowed in at a time
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah quite different to here that is for sure and not a bad idea
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably why Wolverhampton is one of the worst his regions.

I live in Shropshire and its 10 out 10 in, that's all supermarkets in the area with the exception of Aldi, strangely.

Police also checking people are buying essential items.

Yep, you can say the same for teams form too. Spurs can go into the remainder of the sezdo and refreshed and forget their form, Utd, Wolves and Chelsea lose momentum.

I feel very strongly that we have to finish this season," Warburton told Sky Sports News.

"I feel so strongly that for the integrity of the game - we're 80 per cent through - we absolutely have to finish this season.

"And supporters want to hear that, they want that confirmation."

Warburton insists that his view point is a "neutral" one, given the fact that his QPR side were in a mid-table 13th place in the Championship when the EFL suspended all matches on March 13

Yep, its just one reason of many why whatever happens with the remainder of this season can never be considered legitimate. The season has been stained irretrievably.

The former Nottingham Forest manager is suggesting a truncated 2020/21 season played under different rules, to enable it to be completed in time for Euro 2021, which UEFA has announced will begin on June 11 next year.

"I keep hearing comments about next season - there has to be pain somewhere, there has to be change, it can't be all as normal," Warburton said.

posted on 28/3/20

So if that means next season is condensed, so be it. If the Champions League reverts back to a knockout stage we had a few years ago, for one season, so be it. If the playoffs this season become one-legged affairs, third playing sixth at home, so be it.

"We've got to adapt, we can't talk about unprecedented times, unchartered waters, and then expect no change.

posted on 28/3/20

Condense next season, I`ve never heard such nonsense, why have two meaningless seasons instead of just one, you may as well just forget about football until the 2021/22 season

everyone wants to see the league completed with 75% of it having been played. worrying about players rights to sign a new bigger contract with some other team is kind of strange. If no teams are playing then there's no where to go. during the wars how many teams were disbanded? what happened to their players? i feel the only thing that can be done if this goes on until contracts are ending is to declare the season complete and go into hibernation until we can safely start a new one.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"If no teams are playing then there's no where to go"

What?!

If this went on past the 30th June there is nothing to stop an out of contract Aston Villa player going to another Premier League club and then going on to score the goal that relegates them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair that is one thing that can be stopped quite easily. A player may be out of contract but it is easy to stop them being available for another side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh ok...how?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Players are cup tied in competition so why on earth do you think that wouldn't be the case in this situation?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because they are FREE AGENTS. If a players contract had run out in October for whatever reason, or they'd had their contract terminated, then they'd have been completely free to have signed for and played for another team in the same league. You can't just start saying, "oh we've changed our mind now".

You can't just decide midway through a season that you want to change the criteria a player needs to play for a club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

In these special circumstances they absolutely will, that is obvious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on what exactly? Your own hopes that have f-ck all to do with anything?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Based on common sense. If not then they may just do as they would do in the January window and anything is fair game. But i would highly doubt that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can not stop a free agent signing for a club and being registered to play in that competition when the rules all season beforehand would allow it. How can you not grasp the fact that you're breaching numerous rules by doing that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You may or may not have noticed but we are in the middle of a pandemic, 'rules' are going out the window. But despite that you are talking 'rules' regarding a player moving but are quite happy to go against the 'rules' and have the current season abandoned
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Rules aren’t going out the window and legally binding contracts will have to be adhered to unless there are clause in them that state otherwise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes they are, hence they threw them out the window and extended the season indefinitely. I really don't understand why people are struggling with the word 'indefinitely'. It's like people are sticking their fingers in their ears because they don't like the decision. Well the decision was made, people just have to suck it up and get on with it, when they decide it is safe to do so.

Unlucky.

United will have rashford Pogba and Fernandes on the pitch which likely wouldn't of had the real season carried on.
