Yeah, to be fair that comment is being circulated out of context to sucker people in. I would have reached the same conclusion as you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
what context suddenly renders his comment worthless?

he is talking about the UEFA governing bodies Taskforce and how its leasing with the federations about a potential calendar to finish the season.

he said they have 3 plans and if neither of them can work then perhaps the season will be lost.

there isn't a comment hiding in there that suddenly makes the statement about the season being lost suddenly worthless?

Good post Merry. As it stands now United are gonna be in the CL next season. If its cancelled, they'll be in Ropey league.

I think MUFC top brass will also prefer to complete the season and so should any reasonable manc.

First of all you need to read between the lines and take all the statent together.

I don't think "lost" means what you and many others are interpreting it as.

I find it fascinating the FA have declared the really lower leagues null and void yet clearly waiting to last possible minute to do same for the revenue generating ones
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's more disgusting than fascinating given some teams who've had their records expunged were already mathematically promoted. Either the FA make a U-turn, which I sincerely hope they do, or you have to roll it out across all divisions to ensure fairness. But like you say, money.

And after the three plans, he says there's an option to finish the season at the start of the next.

If plans A, B and C fail the season would be lost? then why even consider completing it next season when its already lost?

The UEFA calendar runs to end of June so if games cannot be completed by then, the season will be "lost". However, there is the option to finish the season at the start of the next calendar, if plans A, B and C fail.

Sounds to me like he's committed to finishing the season even if it means delayingbthe next.

The leagues that are not fully professional would be impossible to resume. Its not the same.

Also, why would spreading it across divisions make it fair?

Furthermore, you claim it's unfair to do so at the lower level but you want this unfairness spread across the leagues to ensure fairness?

Wow.

He’s saying it’s unfair because it’s not spread across all levels, which it is.

yeah one of many possibilities but if not possible, season is lost.

personally if this can't be restarted till august then it shouldn't be, that would impact the following season, euro 21 the season after

why jeopardize 2 seasons and the runs to finish this 1? not really worth it

I think the biggest issue when it comes to writing off lower leagues is if the National League is written off. As it means that Barrow (or whomever wins the Conference (as it will always be known to me)) will be denied entry to the Football League. But it's different bodies overseeing those leagues and there's no obligation to follow the same procedures.

It's going to be a mess, and not please everyone. The best solution will be the one that displeases least people and is made with that in mind. How that decision is come to, I have no idea. Impossible to say at this moment as there's so much uncertainty about what tomorrow, next week, next month and even next year will bring in the wider world, let alone football.

Erm, did you read the bit where I said "hopefully the FA make a U-turn"? Yeah, that's the part that answers your bit about whether I want unfairness spread across the leagues.

Whether they're fully professional or not shouldn't matter one bit. It's affected thousands of players, supporters, volunteers at these clubs, weeks and weeks of effort, time off work, etc, but because they're not professional it shouldn't matter? Those clubs are in the same pyramid as those at the top, so everyone in the same system should be subject to the same chance to finish what they started.

Can't see this current situation being under control significantly enough by the end of June so that football can resume.

Reckon it's more likely to be towards the back end of the year before things are going to have any sense of normality.

You did say they could ensure fairness by rolling it out across all divisions which makes no sense to be honest. If its unfair then that means it certainly shouldn't be rolled out anywhere else. I wonder why you'd want this unfairness rolled out and why that would then make it fair in your opinion.

What a paradox.

I suppose if it's equally unfair to everybody, then paradoxically it does kind of become fair. So I can see where he's coming from. But two wrongs don't make a right

This would be true within the same league.

Applying an unfair rule to one league and then thinking "oh we can fix this by applying it across all the leagues".

Sorry but

I'm not thinking about myself at all, that's you, crying about the decision that has been made wanting a season cancelled that's 75% complete. I'm thinking about what's fair and what's right. You can't do that as your motive is simply you don't want Liverpool to won the league, which is pathetic but hilarious all the same and makes it even more sweet.

If you stopped frothing at the mouth and actually read what is said you’d see I want it to be played out.
