Based on information in the more serious newspapers and what my sister, an NHS manager has told me.
Of course the Sun/Mirror/TalkSport may have a different projection but who am I to argue.

What would an NHS manager know that others don't? I was an NHS manager, didn't have a clue about medicine or a Coronavirus.
If we believe it started in China in December and they have now began to lift the lockdown, it has taken nearly 5 months to get to that point, this was after a couple of months where they did nothing and punished people for suggesting there was a problem.
I don't think we're going to see fans in the stadium by May, even June but they could be playing football matches by then regardless, considering there's only 9 games left to play, may as well get it over with, if it's safe for the players, in order to give time for the new season.

I think the talk of the curve not flattening til end of May into June is accurate but i don't see why that means a further six months until games can start. Though one concern is that this thing comes back with a vengeance next Oct/Nov.

They may well do, but that won`t change the fact that this season is now compromised and can not be considered legitimate.

I have no doubt that Liverpool would have won the league this season but I don't think under the circumstances the world has found itself in the season will be completed.
I believe the decision to cancel the remainer of the games below the National league is the beginning of the end for this season in total.

You could resume the season and complete the fixtures, but this season has been compromised now, in no way can the season be completed fairly and without some kind of prejudice and detriment to the integrity of the leagues.
There would be too many variables at work now, too many "what ifs" and too many "if only`s" for the season to be considered fair and legitimate.

What about when matches are postponed due to other reasons such as weather or cup competitions, and then by the time they are replayed one of the teams has their star player back. Is that also an unfair advantage?

I’d say worse case will be October, would be very surprised if it wasn’t before then. Things tend to change very quickly once that light at the end of the tunnel is seen.

I`ll give you one reason, clubs are now at different levels of fitness and some (like Spurs for example) now have key players returning to fitness whereas before they were injured for most of the remainder of the season. That is an unfair advantage in itself.

What about when matches are postponed due to other reasons such as weather or cup competitions, and then by the time they are replayed one of the teams has their star player back. Is that also an unfair advantage?

I would be gutted if the season ended now. We are in the QFs of two competitions, 3 points behind CL place with the most favourable run in of the teams around us and were in very good form. Anything other than the season to continue for us is an awful outcome

You can’t bring up the possibility of the season being cancelled, whether you want it to or not, without Liverpool fans having a meltdown at the very thought of it.

Not really a meltdown, just pointing out that the authorities have already started they want the season to finish. There are plenty on here who think they know better, or rather are desperate for the season to be scratched. It’s funny how you focus on the Liverpool fans being apparently one sided in this, and not the large numbers of opposition fans
It’s been suggested that the virus could flatten out by the end of May. Give it two months for it to be safe, then start playing games at the start of August behind closed doors. It’ll be finished first week in September.
Not far fetched or unreasonable, is it?

Most of the comments on here have been very sensible, it’s a handful of Liverpool fans that are adamant anyone questioning it are ‘against Liverpool’.
We aren’t, the country (world) is going through something so much bigger at the moment.
City have signed over use of the etihad to the nhs. Not sure what that means for being able to use the ground for football.

TBF, since it was obvious that we were going to win the league, huge numbers have been wishing all sorts of things to stop us winning it. Mostly tongue in cheek, but many not. M assume it’s one of those ‘careful what you wish for’ moments.

I’d say worse case will be October, would be very surprised if it wasn’t before then. Things tend to change very quickly once that light at the end of the tunnel is seen.
Even if it is October, what are you going on about with nothing for the rest of the year? October isn’t the last month of the year, never has been.
