UEFA President:Season could be completed

More likely it will be proclaimed void as time passes. Honestly feel sorry for Liverpool in that regard.

Incredible how people read what they want to believe.

Everyone needs UEFA to stop talking in circles and make a decision.

They are acting, as an organisation, in their own self interest when they should be focused on leading.

This season is over, the sooner everyone gets on board and moves on the better.

Why would anyone make a decision at this time?

We need more info before deciding how to move. What a daft suggestion to be honest.

We do, but this will get a whole lot worse before getting better. Plus if you think they’ll want to think about crowds together like at a matches..that’s about mik 9 months away i would think. That’s why it will get to a point where they’ll be delaying next seasons start and will have to calm this one void.

Nothing you've said here would mean they have to void the current season. I don't know. what logic you are applying here.

Why would postponing the next season mean they cancel this one? In fact postponibg the next just means it can therefore be postponed until the current one finishes.

The FA, along with the PL and PFA already made a decision and yet you get several articles on here daily talking about alternate scenarios. It seems the only decision is void, as that will mean a decision has been made, for some people.

I think 'indefinitely' covers it.

Even UEFA president has stated there is a possibility of finishing this season before the next and the fact he said that makes it a real possibility.

I’ll answer with one word:time.

You can work out the rest. I know it sucks, and I genuinely feel for Liverpool given the outstanding season they’ve had; but the longer it goes on, and it will, don’t take that lightly, the longer next season gets delayed. So do they:void this season, and start next late? Or play the end of this seAson and then have possibly up to 6 months til the start of the next season without any football?

Well, I know one thing, the pl is a corrupt money grabbing greedy organisation, they will clearly choose the revenue option..

Why bother with this now?

When football can be played, they'll sit down and make the best decision. It will depend in time, as you said bit your conclusions are a bit of a joke and assumptive. You assume the parameters on next season are known

If we are resuming in Feb or March next year then just finish this season and cancel 2020-2021. We have the Euros and probably Olympics and other tournaments like ACON to carry is through.

If its this year then just finish the current season and condense/augment the next.

We will see how it goes. Cancellation is a possibility but the most remote of them all IMO.

posted on 28/3/20

If its not over by December, 2020-2021 will be cancelled or augmented because there wouldn't be enough time to play a whole season from December to May/June.

However, there'd be time to finish this season....

Overall, making decisions based on an unknown(next season is an unknown) is daft.

Possibilities are endless.

posted on 29/3/20

I'd say stop all football until end of the year.

Use January to March as pre-season and then finished off this season.

Yeah it means no 20-21 season, so what?

Of course I say indefinitely as that's what they said. No point saying what they didn't said like many others are doing. I'd rather go with what they said.

Yeah it means no TV Deal, no Sponsorship, no gate receipts, no wages, no jobs...so what?

I'll tell you 'what' that means half of the Clubs in the top 6 Leagues in the UK wiped out, gone.

You are unbelievably selfish if you think the interests of your team trump that.

You are right.

If we cannot get back to our lives by JANUARY then the damage will be irrepairable.

People need to pay a bit of attention to china. Back to work 3 weeks after lock down in some form.

they are still having to lock down from selfish people travelling back there to flee the virus over here. businesses however restarted and are ploughing ahead.

the REALITY is that if we are fighting in the uk til january then there'll be way more than 20,000 dead and the rest of us will probably be immune but utterly bereft

I don't know why people are coming here to preach. If football does not resume soon then all these clubs could go bust and people will lose jobs. This will happen anyway if were talking about next year so basically your making a nonsense point and then getting on a high horse. You've said nothing but hot air.

Football Clubs can furlough staff and players jobs, they can plan ahead with revised income projections tons based on playing a full season with Cup competition and sponsorships lined up for when the country gets back on its feet.

Cancelling this season is the only sensible practical thing to do, and in the light of so many deaths and serious illnesses the only moral thing to do too.

Precisely. I don't think we will be out of the woods of this until late Autumn, and even then there is the threat of a secondary wave.

People who follow football are not the aristocracy they are the working class who pay for the tickets, the burgers pies, transport, hotel and sky subscriptions.

If they have to make do with 20% less the first things to go will be the sky subscriptions.

Hence why it is sensible to completely eradicate the danger of Covid19 before resuming any spectator led sport.

As I said that's till the end of the year.

So in which case the only sensible thing to do is resume in 2021.
As for revenue, the tv companies will not pay for the action missed up until now that clubs already have budgets and expenditure for. Advertisers won't.

Scarf what is your objection to only resuming action in 2021?

Making plans immediately can be extremely stupid sometimes.

Cancel this season and plan for what? We don't even know if next season will happen at all. Furthermore, next season night have to be condensed/augmented even if this season is cancelled. If we reach December, next season might have to be cancelled as there wouldn't be enough time to complete a full season.

Fact is it's too soon to make any kind of plans. More info is needed and quick action is likely to lead to more problems. Clubs will sue the league then it might all be over by August and both seasons can be squezzed in.

The possibilities are endless and that obvious but we know why some people want to convince themselves otherwise. At least be honest about your motivations.

Yeah RITH. Nobody will want to be planning for next season. Not the TV companies either. They could be forced to change everything and they have no idea what will happen to subscriptions and the business at large.

As many have said, the priority is to defeat Covid, not to start planning for next season, which might not even happen. Some strange suggestions on this site After defeat of covid, let's sit down and see what to do. Even if the season is canceled, it should only be after we've defeated Covid and some sort of predictability is achieved.
