When will the public break?

It’s articles like this that feed the frenzy.

If you have half a brain you’ll know that lockdown is the best thing for us right now; even if it lasts months.

Personally, I’m struggling a fair bit as I live alone, but I’m sensible enough to realise that it’s what we need.

A vast majority of people think the same and very few people will protest against being protected

There are many that aren't staying at home now less than a week into the lockdown nevermind June. The government fecked themselves straight away by putting in this ridiculous exercise excuse and also were not clear on what essential workers were. They have been an utter shambles from the start and there are sooo many caaants in this country that will just flout the rules. I can't see us having under 30-40k deaths personally

I live in the countryside and have been for 2 walks and to Tesco since lockdown, and each time the roads and pavements were completely empty.

There are some idiots of course, but I think it’s the minority.

You think like that now but give it 3 more months and I think even the sanest of minds will have been driven crazy by isolation

Don’t get me wrong - I understand that staying in is the right thing. You are correct.

But people will feel that with such a low death rate they’ll take a chance.

People are going to think that once they have had it then they are amune so can go out whenever and however they want.

I personally don’t think it’s a low death rate. The estimates are anywhere from 0.1-5%.

Let’s say it’s 1% for the sake of argument. If someone gave you 100 sweets but said one of them would kill you, you wouldn’t eat the sweets. It really is that simple to me. Thousands of lives are more important than me going to a mates house or to the gym.

Pretty much

Once testing hits en masse and people who didn’t even know they had it see they have as well as people who have knowingly had it and recovered we may well see a huge number of people demanding to go out.

I went to my local park to walk the dog and there were loads of young lads stood around in groups, went to my local shop and there were people queuing outside in groups of 3 or 4. Seen it in the media in london, parks, beaches have been packed

Essential workers are just that. Plus, it’s he economy can’t stop. All good and well having the essential workers.

Are the guys making and maintaining the equipment needed for the essential work then not essential.

The government placed no rest on essential worker. These non essential as with my place of work who can’t work at home have social distancing, segregation and reduced manning over three shifts and not two to reduce risk/increase protection. Sections never mixing with others in production.

That’s the right mentality now. But very few people will be thinking that 1 or 2 months into a lockdown.

I remember us having a little chat about living alone through this the other week when it all started! Last week I struggled to take it all in and couldn't get my head around the possibility of not being able to socialise for months. I do still think it's $hit, but somehow throughout this week just gone I've been pretty much fine.

I honestly think just watching this video really helped me to change my mindset as it's such a positive way of looking at it: https://www.facebook.com/ThisMorning/videos/3123341534364610/UzpfSTUxMDExNjA4MjoxMDE1ODA3NzE2OTQ2MTA4Mw/

I realise that we're still in the early stages of all this but I guess we just have to take things a week at a time. Let's see what they say when this initial three week period of lockdown is over and take it from there.

If people do get to that breaking point then I hope there’s armed police on the street to put them down for good. Embarrassing if our generation can’t get through a few weeks of lockdown given all the entertainment technology available to us.

Just completed week one of my initial 12 week isolation.

Planning for 20 and working from home for a minimum of 6 months.

It’s just a mindset.

Take the advice from Nick Hornby in about a boy. Units of time, activities to fill 2-3 maximum.

I would give my left nut for living alone right now

Stuck with a wife and two kids, and they with me. Dont think my marriage will survive this honestly.

do you include yourself when you collectively use the the term 'people'.

So, do you think YOU will not be able to hack it and YOU will be on the streets protesting before June?

The lockdown won't go on for that long. It would be a financial disaster.

However, gatherings will still be banned. And there may be other restrictions put in place.

That’s the thing - I don’t know. Maybe everyone will be fine, maybe they won’t

But it’s a safe bet that none of us will know what it’s like after a couple of months of this - it’s never really been done en masse in the western world before. Just exploring the possibilities of how people might react.

Communism doesnt sound so bad right now eh!

There is social unrest in Italy after only 3 weeks. Why on earth would anyone think we can do this until June?

It’s completely unprecedented.

As for the sweets analogy, of course you wouldn’t take one because you are volunteering to take a risk without taking any precautions. That’s as far removed from being out and about whilst adhering to the rules.

But of course we have idiots and despicable rseholes who revel in this. What’s new?

posted on 29/3/20

Then if we were in this form of lockdown until June I fear most will have more things to worry about such as no income at the time when the country realises it can’t afford to continue furlough and support.

And all the services we take for granted will be no more. This is completely unsustainable.
