so many good reasons to be fair.
A very good friend of mine was taken by ambulance last week, severe breathing difficulties, paramedics and Docs said yup its COVID19, got him breathing and sent back home, whole house on lockdown now. They didn't test him though as he displays all the symptoms. Does this get recorded as a case or not as he hasn't been officially tested?
Lockdown. Schmockdown.
Had a look at Heathrow live arrivals this morning.
As well as more than 20 flights arriving from the US yesterday, here's the destinations from which we have welcomed passengers this morning already, putting most of the immediately onto the tube and heathrow express.
Hong Kong
Toronto
Dallas
Sao Paolo
shanghai
Bahrain
Boston
Bangkok
Atlanta
Singapore
Kuala lumpur
Nairobi
Riyadh
Moscow
Madrid
Warsaw
Amsterdam
Santiago
Zurich
Hamburg
Rome
Dusseldorf
Munich
Reykjavik
Beijing
Lyon
Hanover
Seattle
Multiple flights from some of these.
I could go on but I'm getting fed up.
Why are we still allowing this?
There is nothing to do here?

It does make an entire mockery of the whole thing to be honest and it's such an easy thing to jump on.
No flights in our out or a 14 day stay in a detention centre. See how many plump for that. I'd imagine the necessity to travel might not seem so high after all.
people need to get home tbf
also maybe some of them are cargo planes?
I do wonder how busy these flights are. I imagine you'll be lucky if they are at half capacity.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ivan...what's the 'normal' number for deaths in ICU?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good question.
It's a 'postcode lottery' as the papers like to say, and is variable across the country.
According to a very old BMJ report it was around 30% at the turn of the century. I believe survival rates have increased since then but I don't have stats.
A US report states around 9-13% die which seems low.

There maybe a few people who need to get home but I'd say they've had long enough.
The fights I've listed may be carrying some cargo but they are all passenger carrying flights landing at the main international terminals.

I live in a village and have a nice bit of countryside behind my house which has many trails on there which are popular with dog walkers.
People are driving there to walk their dogs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
These people are idiots.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am driving my dog to walk him absolutely. I live in Bearsden town centre. I can walk the dog there and meet dozens of people in close proximity and quick succession on the pavements. I can drive 10mins to the country park / reservoir / golf course and meet fewer people and keep the 2m. I can drive 20m and walk in almost total isolation in the hills and forest.
I am doing mostly the latter, particularly at weekends when every other cant is in the country parks. I see it as doing my bit and on balance a better solution.
Until it is law and enforced then I will carry on doing it.
Way less risk than Ivan browsing bargains about M&S.
