We can only speculate right now as none of us really know, but I personally think we will slowly be easing back to normal by the summer. Late summer will be seeing normal life resume here in the U.K.

The season will continue in July. Just because some expert says lockdown 6 months, doesn’t mean it will happen. I reckon they will thrash out all the fixtures to try and get ready for the new season which might be delayed slightly. Footy will resume Sandy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If it did, then you have to ask yourself what will happen to transfer window, to pre-seasons, to playing games in the far flung areas of the world?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Transfer windows can still happen. We have a transfer window in Jan don’t we ? That’s in the middle of the season. Playing football doesn’t stop a transfer window. Pre season will be scrapped, but the clubs are getting pre season competitive games anyway as they will be playing the season during the pre season. Let’s get back to some sort of normality first by combating this virus which I believe we will do slowly by the summer. Then we can resume the footy which I think will happen. Like I said, late July or august the season will resume.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If its late July/August then finishing this season will impact on the start of next which I don't think will be allowed to happen.

As I've said all along I think the powers that be will prioritise playing the whole of next season over salvaging this one.

The common sense decision will be to write the remainder of this season off and start again a fresh with a delayed 20/21 season starting in mid Sept.

Whatever happens with the remainder of this season, it can never be considered legitimate, what with all the variables etc now at work, it could never be completed fairly and without compromise.

Protect the new season above all else, there is no sense in having 2 stained and compromised seasons in a row if it can be avoided.

Suspect it will be a delayed start, but happen from the back end of the year, whether that's to finish this season or start a new one, anyone's guess.

Depending how Europe recovers, could be a case of domestic season starts but no European competition to reduce future spread? Doubt it, but could be being looked at...

Don`t worry the Government have said they will pay 80 per cent of everybody`s wages. I would like to know how they are going to play footballers who are on £350 grand a week.

Also something to consider is they think this virus will be coming back later this year

What thenThis is why I don't think they will cancel the season this far in when it looks like we could potentially have many stoppages in the coming years until this is sorted.

Also if there's no football until early next year there won't be time for a season so they will finish this one

What do you want, the league cancelled every time there is an outbreak

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep this. Makes no sense to cancel this one when there is no guarantee of an uninterrupted 20/21 season. What then, two voided seasons in a row? Nah.

Imo a new season will start behind closed doors in August/September, but I don't see a football match being played in front of a crowd this year.

Can't see how social distancing can stop being applied until either a vaccine is found or testing kits are available to everybody.

They did mention up to £2500 a month

I think we're looking at July or August at this stage, although it wouldn't surprise me if they began in June, with limitations.

They didn't and they aren't. They said they would pay 80% of the wages of people who are on furlough due to the fact that otherwise, the business would have to make you redundant.

I don't think players on 350k a week qualify.

One thing is for sure....we must not let Liverpool win the title.

You know how people sometimes joke about the likelihood of someone achieving something, and that if it happens it will cause the end of world, or hell freezing over will happen first. Well that looks like it's actually going to happen if Liverpool win the title. We've been given like a warning with all this as Liverpool have drawn nearer to winning their first PL title. If we can get through all this, the season must be voided at all costs to prevent Liverpool winning it.

Keep the world safe and stop Liverpool winning it.

True and you can add 'wet' to that.

Let's be honest, it feels suspiciously coincidental this should all happen as Liverpool are about to win their first PL title. I'd be afraid a meteor will finish us all off if we're allowed to continue the season.

Why are people still so desperate for the current season to finish, unfortunately with all the variables and inconsistencies etc now at work, this season is just about as insignificant and meaningless as it can be.

With everything that has gone on, the season could never be completed and considered a legitimate season, it has been stained irretrievably. It is just desperation from anybody that argues otherwise.

It is harsh on certain clubs, but this season is dead, and should be declared as such. Finishing a stop start season after being suspended for months etc is just absolute nonsense.

(before Don pipes up with his agenda, this is not a anti Liverpool notion, but rather one of basic common sense).

Haven't had the time to read through all of the comments so apologies if this has already been mentioned but the government's line of "things won't be return to normal for up to 6 months" doesn't mean a total lockdown for that time. It means social distancing, partial lockdowns, vigilant gatherings. To put it simply this country, nor any other, could copy with a 6 month shutdown economically. The government will definitely lift sanctions sooner than you think to keep the cogs turning. I think they'll fast-track the antibody test so that those who've already had it can return to work safely in the knowledge they'll be immune for a couple of months at least.

It's easy to be downbeat but there's so much we don't know about this disease yet or how far away a potential vaccine is. It could be quicker than the predicted 18 months when you consider every country in the world is working on this. The next few weeks will tell us a lot. We'll see what happens when sanctions are lifted in China, Italy and Spain. Does it return with same power or is its rapid infection rate meaning 'herd immunity' is begin to develop?

It’ll resume in June/July and be blitzed through like a World Cup. That’s the PL, mind.
