For those who are dismissing the Guardian as biased, the most devastating piece of journalism about the UK government's handling of the crisis and the political journey it went on from relying on 'herd immunity' and with the original 'if people die, so be it' quote was published by the (Conservative party supporting, Rupert Murdoch owned) Sunday Times on 22nd March. It's behind a paywall and I haven't read it in its entirety but it has been widely praised as a very rigorous and non-sensational piece of journalism, written by Tim Shipman, who is considered the ultimate Westminster insider. Obviously, these pieces rely on off-the-record conversations with senior people and therefore rarely quote their sources. However, journalists working the Westminster lobby would lose those sources overnight if there was a whiff of making stuff up.

Interestingly, I get the impression that despite cataloguing the government's movement from a flawed initial policy to a more sensible new approach, and despite some details that sound very damning out of context, the article overall apparently gives the impression of a government acting in good faith and making some errors in very trying circumstances.

I'd love to kick out the Tories and I want them to be asked serious questions about their strategies now, and to face forensic enquiries about it once this episode is over. However, there's nothing to be achieved by wilfully judging everything they have done as completely corrupted, completely misjudged in the absence of a clear picture.

LET OLD PEOPLE DIE.

It’s actually an article that says he denies making such a statement? Where’s the proof he actually said it?

Typical Guardian trash reporting
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course he denies it, he’s a lying Tory.

Well you know, Karma and all that
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The article is about Cummings, not Boris...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They both have it.

And we are supposed to be taking advice from these people.

You’re absolutely right... I knew a doctor who got sick once. How do these people slip through the net?

All at the heart of government.

Neither so far as I’m aware automatic, just highlighting the “example” issue

In the space of two weeks we’ve managed to stop our four year old licking his fingers, but it’s beyond the stand in leader.
