Unintentionally
Like me, it sounds like you are a tad suspicious of China's transparency.
However, they did impose extremely tough resistrictions very early doors.
Fully bio-suited personnel were greeting all arrivals 18th February. You even had to register your cell phone and download an app so you could be traced/monitored via triangulation.
All governments lie.
I want to know why ours keep saying they are ramping up testing when only 2000 out of 550,000 have been tested so far.
If you can’t do it, ok, but say why, it seems absurd.
there's been numerous reports of morgues in Hubei getting shipments of 5000 urns at a time and the locals leaking intel they refuse to believe the stated numbers
china just wanted to stop being the bad guys so ended reporting cases properly.
The lesson we in The West are learning too late is this; Total Lockdown early doors, and test, test and test some more.
You just hate China, clearly. But they did it. So did Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and Japan.
Italy, Iran and Spain didn't. The UK went even further against this model and decided that herd immunity would be the best way to tackle this.
Just... Bizarre. <shakes-head>
2k frontline NHS staff tested to date. Out of a workforce of over 1.2 million.
That's not bizarre - its downright incompetent.
After ten years of austerity the NHS, bled dry, is now having bail out Johnson and Cummings.
China have questions to answer of course, but so do our government about their response.
The actions are not matching the rhetoric

30 new ventilators so far. THIRTY.
It’s supposed to he 30’000. What is going on?
listen to what she actually says
health officials want 30k...this ONE consortium is sending 30 this weekend.
she also clearly states there are many other sources providing them and other consortiums building them.
so many people love the drama

We’ve turned down 50’000 ventilators from the EU.
Why?
Brexshit.
America are facked ,with a population of 329.45 million it's gonna make the rest of the world look like chi!d's play.

Yep.
And India if it takes a hold.
Our health workers are the unwitting vector of this virus.
We have shut down the world economy and ensured a global Great Depression2 when is was not necessary.
Half the worlds health workers would be positive if tested, and they're going home to their families after their shift ends. Madness.
What she clearly states is that ‘this seems to be a small initial quantity’. And the promise of ‘hundreds more coming in the following weeks’ (Tory promises eh?) hardly stacks up against the current lockdown-that-isn’t-really-a-lockdown period, does it?
All a bit vague, from Downing St.
As usual.

I dont think these decisions are being taken lightly. When business takes a backseat you know things are pretty serious. Dying people is not good for the economy and Im talking from a country that can turn into a war zone as most of its people are poor and suffer from hunger.
This is the problem with people voting for populist celebrities who can mumble a funny line every now and again. They haven’t a f a k en clue what to do in real times of crisis.
Look at our own numpties making up nonsense about why we can’t test as much as we should. We aren’t even testing a third of what Germany is.

Business hasn't "taken a back seat" though has it?
Big business has got out of the car and received a bail out in the many trillions.
SME are still in the front of the vehicle heading towards a wall with no seat belt on.
I see dead people.
OP
China figures confirmed by whom?
It could be what they say at 3300 dead, but it could be 40k dead.
We may never know.
They are going back to work and opening wet markets, possible covid source.
Bit in the West, we are told this is here for 6-12 months, with a Second Wave.
China wants the economy back on track and do not care about people, imo.

I was just reading about this. According to local speculation, taking into account the regular numbers for Wuhan, the extra urns being delivered amounted to around 26k. In Wuhan alone. It's worth noting that most countries in lockdown have seen a decrease in deaths.

This.
S Korea and Singapore appear to have curtailed the outbreak, using closed borders and airports, testing and really heavy lockdown....testing also.
Germany testing 500k weekly, and limiting deaths, but still high even there.
Lockdown in Italy and Spain went before UK and yet they are the two worst places in the world now, with America too.

You should see the comparison between S Korea and the US, it’s astonishing considering they both recorded their first death on the same day.
Also mystifying is the low death rate in Australia
UK cases 29,474 - 2352 deaths
Australia cases 5108 - 24 deaths

Are they doing a lot more tests earlier in the outbreak?
To be fair it's similar to Canada in that it's a massive country with a small population. It's pretty easy to distance yourself abit.
