Rashford must be getting close to that soon

Add in the creativity of Sancho that means more opportunities for rashford and others

Rashford was on his way to something like that tally before the injury.

Martial is on 15 or so right now having missed 2 months of the season.

Those lads are 22 and 24 and will presumably only get better and also would have Ighalo as back up.

Not to mention Greenwood who at 18 is on double figures with limited game time.

Bruno and a motivated Pogba are well capable of scoring goals.

If we do get Grealish and Sancho that’s another 2 lads we’ll capable of scoring goals.

I’d hold off on a big money striker this summer anyway.

I think creativity has been a big problem for large parts of the season rather than actually having someone who can put the ball in the net.

Sancho alone will probably get to 20 or near on the regular before long.

Exactly if we did get Sancho we would have 4-5 players who are capable of hitting 20+ goals in a season.

A 25+ goalscorer isn't really required if you have enough fire power spread out. United had Cole and Yorke but only 1 managed 20 goals in their seasons together, and you still managed a treble and 3 league titles back to back.

If we had those three I'd feel pretty happy. At that point, I think we could say that the DM position was the weakest part of the front 6. I'm happy with the progress of Fred and McT, but they both strike me as better playing the box-to-box role than the anchor. Matic was really good in the weeks before the lockdown but I don't see him as a reliably world class performer.

No because we'd have neglected the midfield yet again.

Many seem to think we need a new centre back and a new striker other than Ighalo.

I think we can leave those positions alone for this summer at least. Give the likes of Martial, Greenwood, Bailly and Tuanzebe the opportunity to prove they are up to it long term. They all certainly have the ability.

well you could always 'Money Ball' the situation.
So ok, we don't have a 20 goal man...yet. (Think Rashford will become that guy), but what you'd hope would happen is the goals would spread around.
We can but dream, but those signings would be a step in the right direction.
My concern right now though, is if we don't offload Sanchez, then we'd be lucky to get one of those signings..

Plenty of players in the squad capable of scoring lots of goals especially if we signed those 3.

I think we’ll loan Sanchez and pay a large chunk of his wages again.

Rashford has been talking up Sancho to United. Players don’t usually start talking like that unless there is something in the works.

In my opinion, outgoings are just as important in order to get the squad right.

The 3 mentioned in the OP would be fine as long as we manage to shift certain players on i.e. Lingard, Pereira, Sanchez.

Think we’ll get rid of at least 2 of those. Jones also.

I would be content with that. Would be nice if we can get that lad Bellingham in as an understudy, assuming that's his favoured position.

Reckon he’ll end up at Dortmund and he’s probably better right now. I wonder if that deal will have any effect on the Sancho deal.

Jones and Rojo need to go and I would bring back Smalling into the fold. I don't think we need to buy in another big money CB.

Exactly. Not this summer anyway. Give what we have another season to prove themselves. We’ve shown big improvements at the back lately.

I can see Smalling leaving as he would be easier to shift than Rojo and Jones and would probably command a bigger fee.

----------------------------------------------

They're not that good for various reasons. Pogba is at his best playing further forward with more freedom, Matic has done pretty well this year but he'll be 32 next season, he's not very mobile and he might not be able to maintain the form he's been in since the New Year and that's a worry given he's our only defensively minded midfielder. I am quite happy with the progress of Fred and McTominay though.

Overall we still lack genuine quality and certain attributes in that deeper midfield area, be it a more mobile and robust holding player or a defensive playmaker who can control a game and adeptly distribute the ball.

That would be a very competitive league challenging squad. Only comfort is that Ole will still be at the wheel.

I agree with all that.

I suppose it depends on our budget and the Pogba situation.

The way I see it is that this summer we need to bolster our attack.

Last summer we spent big on bolstering our defence and are starting to see the fruits of that in recent months.

This summer should be spending big on bolstering the attack.

Sancho, Grealish and Ighalo would probably cost 200 mill and unless Pogba goes its hard to see us spend more than that.

At this point I don't see the sense in spending so much on Grealish if he's not going to be playing week in week out and given two of our best players play in the two roles in our system that he's known to play in.

I like him as a player and I understand the argument about depth but for me it makes more sense to improve an area which isn't that strong and is arguably the most important on the pitch.

Grealish is like Pogba in the sense that he favours playing off the left either playing from the left wing or playing as a left interior in a 4-3-3, which is where Pogba should be playing for us but for some reason the manager doesn't share this view.
