So zero sign of the season being cancelled then. That will upset a few.

Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano has revealed the Premier League team's 'latest plans' in regards to the appeal to the CAS over the two-year ban from the UEFA Champions League, reports Athletic journalist Sam Lee.

On Tuesday, CAS asserted that in-person hearings are suspended until May at the earliest due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and have stated that cases such as Manchester City's will need to be postponed or decided via video calls instead.

Soriano is said to have informed fellow employees at Manchester City that, in light of the present situation, the club are 'open to a conference call' and 'remain keen to resolve the matter as quickly as possible'.

This attitude further reinforces the belief that Manchester City's hierarchy are confident in the likelihood of success for their appeal, and want to have their case heard as soon as possible.

However, the club's appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport was not among the list of 18 cases scheduled to be heard between April 23 and June 26. The date for Manchester City's hearing thus remains uncertain - but, the club's willingness to resort to the option of a conference call will mean that it is 'less likely' that the appeal faces 'further delay',

See.

The ban is still in place.

I've said it for a couple of weeks now to just suspend all football until end of the year.

That way any spectre of second wave can be dealt with without impacting people's health.

Then finish the season after a January pre-season or something.

Means contracts have to be rolled forward and any debts due to be paid suspended for the same period.

I may just be that the thinking is this will become a 19-21 season. They could restart in say January and stretch out the games, get more games on TV, even lower down the pyramid to generate some much needed funds.

They've done well to leave it open. The possibilities are endless. Time will reveal the best option.

Scrap this season now. Smear the Sky rebate over the next few seasons. Trying to drag it out and say they will finish this season with so many unknowns is setting themselves up fro ongoing disruption and problems. If this all blows over quickly and they are able to restart on 30th April, it will be approx 2 1/2 months since they stopped. So that will need to be added to the end of the season which finishes 23rd May. Trying to shorten it will put players at risk of injury from playing too frequently. So that means it ends first week of August. Already impacting on next season. Any extention of the lockdown which is extremely likely looking at other countries and it goes well into next season. Add in the players need a break (although a shorter one will do as they are having a break now), sorting out the transfer window and a preseason and trying to finish just makes no sense to me.

Lets just get all the disruption over with and get back to a normal season starting in August. Get life back to normal as quick as possible rather than try to force the issue and cause disruption that may take years to normalise.

Who says it will be safe to play football in August?

If it's safe to play in August then finish this season and squeeze the next.

The ban on televised 3pm kick offs has been lifted, leading to the belief the season will be completed behind closed doors.

No doubt it will, but when..

Of course televising more matches means more people stay in.

This season needs to be voided and Sky told by government, to suck it up and swallow the 750mil loss. The fact they've even demanded the money (if they have), under these circumstances is DISGUSTING!

The reason the season needs to be voided is simple. It's the only outcome that is FAIR TO ALL (or unfair to all if you wanna look that way). Effectively everyone loses out. Playing behind closed doors gives an unfair advantage to the bigger teams whom already have the advantage of superior squads. Pool can't be awarded the title because then you have to also promote 1st -3rd in each league below, relegating teams who had a lot of points to be saved. 3 teams from each league robbed, is more unfair and far more detrimental to those teams, than Liverpool and others not being given titles or promotions they didn't actually win.

Trying to come up with clever ways to fit it in (going as far as playing the rest of this season in place of next ), is just dragging out uncertainty and leaving clubs and players hanging. Let's face it, if it was any other team other than pool, they'd have called the season as void and moved on already. This stalling on doing so is just a desperate attempt to come up with a way to give them the PL title. If the other teams aren't careful, a whole bunch of them are going to get cheated hard. All in order to give An field a paper title. All this delay and disruption, to give them a title that everyone will deem meaningless anyway, what's the point? Scrap it and move on, unlucky EVERYONE (not, unlucky everyone but Liverpool, who we'll give a title they didn't win, just to keep scousers happy).

The 750 Mil is a refund of money the league has already been paid.
Of course they should refund it.
Why should the entertainment industry make them a free gift when they themselves are suffering losses?
Everybody gets to suffer in this situation

Isn’t the money paid in instalments with the last one being the largest amount?

If so they just don’t pay it.

You having a laugh? You actually silly enough to believe that sky is suffering any hardship here? Their subscriptions for entertainment, movies etc will have increased worldwide by more than enough to recoup any sports losses. They can certainly easily afford to write off the 750 mil. After all THEY'RE the ones who've made the most money by far from this football setup.

In case you hadn't noticed mate, none of the filthy rich s who own sky are suffering at all. It's the rest of us, as usual. Only reason this happens again and again is because said filthy rich mug people like yaself into believing they're "suffering" with us, whilst pocketing half a bill. THEY NEVER suffer with us and unless you're one of them, you should really shouldn't be stupid enough to believe they do and peddling that myth. Makes you too inclined to give them a pass for feckin over the little man again. Cos it'll be the little men at the little clubs who end up suffering the most for sky to get cash back. Viral outbreak, act of god, feck em, ya don't get ya money back for them. Just ask one of the poor feckers stuck in flooding territory. Because that's what they get told. See NO reason why it shouldn't be the same for multi-billion pound super corp.
