In just 2 weeks people have become conditioned to 2 metres, the looks of horror if someone comes closer....we're conditioned to staying inside, to finding alternatives to our way of lives before.

This will take time to adjust to whatever the new normal is afterwards and one hopes sport has a massive part to play in restoring people's physical and mental health and indeed provide some escapism through watching.

Couldn't agree more.

2020 will not be a year we forget quickly - or where we were in March-May 😉

Sorry Jaz...not allowing you to start a political thread. Start one yourself if that’s where you want to take this.
Thanks

Does anyone think that the new normal will be anything like the old normal?

Everything depends whether this thing keeps coming back different - nature is fighting back against humans both in terms of overcoming survival of the fittest requirements and from sheer numbers

Once they develop vaccines and drugs to cure the virus., we will return to normal.

Could take a year or more for that.

It's already evolved into a new strain - or Covid-20 has arisen - meaning the old vaccine will not work. Just like we need a new flu vaccine every year which is developed and produced based on forecasts of which one will come up again, it is hit and miss.

This is not thought to be like polio or measles where you can get a jab in your first few years - this appears to be a different beast.

They never managed to come up with a vaccine for SARS.

30 years on no vaccine for HIV.

This is no easy task and 18 months is a hugely optimistic guess, nobody can give any accurate timescale at this point.

That’s exactly why I said a year or more...

I wonder what was meant by that?

First, Salonika, apologies for raving on your thread yesterday - we've had some bad news in the family and there's sweet FA anyone can do about it except hope and pray that those wonderful people who work for the NHS, who've been so abused and neglected for so long, can save the day.

Second, everything is political. I appreciate the intent of your thread was to focus on the football issues but football reflects what's going on in the wider world. The elite throw a few crumbs to the rest only because they need to project the lie that "we're all in it together" when they really don't give two hoots. The PL magnanimously announced it would give 20 million to the NHS. That wouldn't even buy you a Fat Kev these days. 125 million to support the lower leagues when so many clubs will be fighting for their lives? It seems to me that these are only shameful tokens, fig leaves to cover a culture of insatiable greed.

Cheers Jaz. So sorry to hear about your bad news. I fear there’s many more people going to be in your awful position. And you’re right, everything is political
in one shape or form..and there a million things wrong with this world, and with the human race.

But the reason I didn’t want the thread go down that route is that, whatever the rights and wrongs, it’s the world we live in and have to deal with. And one of the way we deal with things is by looking forward and by trying to stay focussed on the good things on life...and that’s where my thread was trying to take us..to try to picture that uplifting feeling we’re all going to have sitting down to watch that first match back...on the road to our new normal whatever that will be.

I’m sorry how you’re feeling right now...but please let’s make sure we get get in touch 5 mins before that kick off...and I’ll bet your a keg of Tetleys it’ll feel just like I said 🤜🏻

Thanks Salonika. I really hope I'm wrong about everything - it wouldn't be the first time - but in my view this season is clearly kaput. I'm trying to stay positive but it's just got very very personal and the incompetence we're seeing is making my blood boil.
