Greedy Liverpool shame on you

So by your reckoning both clubs are shameful then? Decent of you to admit it but I’m not sure why you’re giggling away to yourself. Hey ho

It’s called looking after your business and shareholder interests. You might want to look it up if ever anyone lets you run a company for them.

Won the CL, spent millions on players, have accumulated huge revenue from CL success, and the so called moral crusader if you saw the amount of "sh"articles by their fans on here slating Spurs for doing this
------

Spurs focussed on non playing staff instead of players. Liverpool have taken this step only after agreeing a player wage reduction. This obviously makes Liverpool better than Spurs.

Weird article given that Spurs did the same thing. I could understand if Spurs had acted more kindly and fairly on the matter but they haven't

It's very bad from the owners, now Spurs and Liverpool I would definitely now expect many other clubs to do it as well. Maybe the clubs have reason to think they'll be in very bad financial standing soon but I would've thought a far better solution could be made by the clubs. Especially as you would expect Liverpool to be in a better place right now that all but a few other Premier League clubs.

Weird article

Just leave it there. I agree.

The decent thing to do, assuming they take the 80% salary subsidy from the government, is to pay the remaining 20% so that their staff don't lose out during lockdown.

Liverpool have done exactly the right thing.

Don't see what the fuss is about, the Government has put a furlough scheme in place to try and ensure companies don't go under and the we are all faced with not just finding 3/6 months wages but 10 years of benefits on what would be a global depression.

Well done LFC for topping it up.

posted on 4/4/20

The I think it's a pisstake that any company with a huge profit margin or reserve funding should use the scheme.
I just can't accept it's justified tbh, especially as taxpayers will foot the bill for years and years to come.

LFC players take a pay cut
Non playing staff don't miss out on any money as LFC tops up their wages.

Morespurs has a moan.

Wonder how much footballers pay in tax a year.

From the little research I have done on it, most footballers pay their taxes, or at least the clubs do it for them, so the government gets what is due from their huge salaries.

Arsenal had this weird tax dodge going a few years where their players were consultants running businesses in order to lower the amount of tax they paid. But I think that is the exception rather than the norm.

As for Morespurs he frequently embarrasses us Spurs fans. The most common one is crowing about a Liverpool loss the day before we go and lose to a much worse team

Hang on.

You have a problem with tax payers repaying tax to keep mainly low paid to median paid people in employment which will allow them to pay tax as opposed to being made redundant?

That’s what this scheme is. And if the business can’t demonstrate they needed it they have to repay it.

They also have to look after a business with no certainty ahead of them, and huge income streams on which they depend being lost.

Aye ok

The only reason you aren't going at Liverpool is because Spurs did it first.

If Liverpool had done it first then you'd have ripped them apart

Privatise profits

Socialise losses

That’s capitalism in the present era.

Not for much longer though, the system is collapsing around their private jets and yachts. We are about to witness the collapse of Industrial Civilisation and the monetary system dependent on infinite growth in a world of finite resources.

The govt should tell them to fack off, pay them yourselves, from your mega rich players wages. No way tax payers should foot the bill for mega rich pl teams, not a chance.

Most clubs will probably end up furloughing because this is not going away any time soon, the only ones that won`t will be the oil money clubs, who will take it as an opportunity to spend even more of their extreme wealth, gaining a pat on the back from the public in the process.

Clubs in Spain and Italy. Even Germany asked players first to take a cut in wages in the short term. Not seeing how they could pay staff with financial assistance.

Liverpool and Spurs along with Newcastle are the Virgin Of football

Don't know whether you noticed?

The oil price just cratered below the cost of production of 90% of the worlds oil wells. The Saudis and the Ruskies are in a world of 💩
