That is correct. And what’s even more funny is a historical Labour stronghold city is running to the Tories for a bailout.
Club has acted disgracefully imo. The owners have been very good over past few years but this is a major negative. It is embarrassing and needs to be called out.

Weird thing is, as I've just read someone else mentioning... what normally happens during the summer, when there's no football being played?
Are all the non-playing staff laid off, or furloughed then? Because if the league is to be finished this year, it'll mean playing through the summer months, making this the equivalent of the second week of the close season.
I imagine clubs hands are somewhat tied, if they reduce a players wage they'll be in breach pf contract and the player could simply leave - that's potentially hundreds of millions of assets gone.
It's horrible to see but to me the only viable solution is an emergency tax rate for high earners. 90% (min) on all earnings over a certain amount

That would be a admin headache imo right now at a time where everyone bar essential workers are at home. Or atleast they should be.
It does seem a bit left field that footballers are being targeted and not musicians, actors, TV stars, company ceo's.
To be honest, I would probably be more comfortable if the club paid the staff 80% of their salaries including players etc and not claim from the taxpayer. At least this would have been ethical but this furlough thing is entirely disgraceful. I know football is a business but the clubs should also be ethical. I expected people like Levy and Ashley to do this but I never thought that in a million years that Liverpool will ever do this. People of Liverpool (Liverpool fans) cannot complain next time that there are cuts in social services as our club has taken some of that money away!
