Seems like a bargain to me.

They’ve said to staff if they don’t want to come in, they will be furloughed and get government assistance. I think this is quite a good way to manage their staff? Do you mean that you think they should avoid furloughing staff, even those that want to come in, so they could pay 100% of their wages? Not unreasonable especially as the company is no doubt loaded, but also, the government assistance is there for a reason, employees and companies will end up using it and are within their rights to. And of course the company is still paying staff that come in.

I am in business and have close dealings with Compass group.
I think you have misunderstood.
Compass have kept on employees at the excel that want to work and help, and those that do not feel comfortable working in that environment have been furloughed to protect their jobs for when this is over, with Compass also making up the extra 20%.
Please don’t confuse them with the owners of the excel, who are indeed charging rent. I think as a company Compass have performed admirably considering they are an international hospitality company whose market has been decimated overnight.
