Cudicini has lost all credibility to make any list based on him sitting most his career out

What is confusing about that?

What the heck are Allison and Ederson doing on the list? Both are disasters waiting to happen.

Both allison and ederson made a few mistakes last year, but both are well ahead of cech in terms of ball playing ability, and cech was better than schmeichel at that. So if allison and ederson show high levels over a 5 year period they could take the crown

Yes, you can't put these players above players who have done it for years, no matter how high their levels have been. But in terms of mistakes, they will always make more mistakes, due to the risks they take. Their mistakes are very rarely, if ever, actually traditional keeper mistakes, saving mistakes, catching etc but mistakes due to playing the ball, which is far outweighed by the benefit, due to how their teams play. Although I do think Ederson takes it too far with his decisions to rush out sometimes, which Alisson has also done on occasion.

I think we can liken it to say a Gerrard v Carrick depend(yes, believe it on not, they happened). It was cited that Carrick lost the ball less, which is obviously easier considering he wasn't asked to take risks, where Gerrard was.

Tbf Lloris was always flying of his line especially under AVB:

Article above is from 2013.

I reckon as good as they both are, Allison and Ederson don’t face the same scrutiny playing about with it at the back. Mainly due to the fact that they are Brazilian. Both aren’t at in the Prems best yet imo. Though both could get as good as Neuer.

1. Schmeical
2. Cech
3. De Gea - could have been number one, or at least number two by now but for his loss of form which has went on for around two seasons.
4. Seaman - several bug errors cost him, as well as his mobility, when compared to other keepers
5. Van der Sar - past his best when he joined the league
6. Alisson - not played long enough to be higher
7.Ederson - not played long enough to be higher but the best of all time with the ball at his feet.
8. Reina - also very good with his feet and outstanding at releasing Torres early with long throws or kicks, which was a major tactic of ours. Regressed dramatically when he wanted to move to Arsenal.
9: Given - years and years at a very high level
10: Freidel - struggled when he joined Liverpool but sent from strength to strength after. Became Mr Dependable.

VDS past his best? Are you mad? He was exceptional for both Fulham and united and won numerous individual honours during that period.

Van der Sar - past his best when he joined the league

Wtf?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes. He was 34 and not as good as he was with Ajax and Juventus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he was younger than that when he joined Fulham?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't see him much for Fulham to be honest but he wouldn't have been moving from Juventus to Fulham if he wasn't past his best. He was a good keeper for United, don't get me wrong, which is why I have put him fifth but he shouldn't be rated on his whole career, just the PL years, which is what I've tried to do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was 30 when he joined Fulham. He left Juve because they had just signed Buffon for a huge fee. There were other clubs interested in him, including Liverpool, but he didn't want to wait until the end of the summer window, which Liverpool did. So he joined Fulham with a view to playing football and a bigger move later.

And he was great during his period in the PL getting in the team of the year on 3 occasions.

I think VDS may be the overall beat ‘keeper tbh. When you watch season reviews on YouTube or the Premier League Years on Sky, you see how bad Schmeichel‘s kicking was and he made a lot more mistakes than I remember at the time. Obviously he’s an amazing ‘keeper and I’m glad we had him, a ‘keeper who can actually win you points is invaluable.

VDS was very comfortable on the ball, even in the 90s when it wasn’t AS important as today, but I think Ajax promoted that with their ‘keepers.

De Gea doesn’t command his area that well, even though he’s been brilliant for us and has excelled in pretty much every area. I think VDS was very commanding, organising, coming for crosses, sweeping up, I think he was better than De Gea at that.

Cech, was obviously brilliant for Chelsea, but wasn’t for Arsenal, a team nowhere near as as good as Chelsea in their pomp.

VDS had one bad spell with us, from what I recall, he kept punching the ball back into the penalty area rather than pushing it away, but that’s the only dip in form I can remember in six years.

Cech was decent at first for arsenal and was aged by then anway. Vds was a clown at times who overachieved at Utd. I’d have ddg way ahead of him in terms of keeping ability
