Seems like the logical conclusion that he did though as the article mentions that Real Madrid where going to buy Hagi off Rangers once the deal went through with Gent. Seems it would be cheaper for them to tell Hagi not to sign for Rangers if they wanted him.
Think he would be free to weigh up his options - he’s tied to Ghent for the moment. Rangers have him in loan with a fee agreed should they wish to buy him at the end of the loan period. All parties have to be in agreement though before rangers could buy him.

Like I said, I think if a fee and personal terms had been agreed, then it would have been reported as that at the time. I this there was reporting about the fee, but nothing other than that. It might well have been - I can't remember and can't be bothered checking.

No way, but I'd say he was a level way beyonb Hagi (admittedly not seen a lot of him) in terms of skill and the game was a lot slower paced back then.

Think he would be free to weigh up his options - he’s tied to Ghent for the moment. Rangers have him in loan with a fee agreed should they wish to buy him at the end of the loan period. All parties have to be in agreement though before rangers could buy him.
