Henry - 20g 20a is obscene
Suarez - basically carries Pool closest to the title than ever before
CR7 - his first obscene season

Yaya - carried City to a title when Aguero/Silva missed most the season
Gerrard - Between this and the 08/09 season. Team was considerably worse in 05/06 which is why this makes the list
Keane - based on his best goal return and a heavily consistent season. 98/99 is better remembered imo for his Juventus performance which isn’t PL specific

Terry - incredible defensive record
VVD - was probably pretty good. Toss up between this, a Kompany, Carvalho, Toby, Ferdinand, Vidic season

DDG - basically carried Utd to 2nd place

I think TAA from last season could be considered. And Robertson too.

Can’t argue with the front three at all. I think one of Lampard 09/10 could go over Keane. League winner, 22 goals and 16 assists in 36 league appearances .

As good as Lampard was, and that’s why he got an honourable mention. That Chelsea team would have still won the league with out him, and with another player taking over his 10 penalty goals.

Salah 17/18
Torres 07/08
RVP 12/13 i think it was?
Rooney 09/10?
Kante Mahrez?

Were Lampard’s stats from 09/10 seriously that good? That’s insane if true but I can’t remember

I’d maybe consider adding Drogba 06/07. Didn’t he get about 30 league goals that season ?

posted on 10/4/20

Actually might have been 30 goals in all comps

Bale 12/13?

According to transfermarkt those were Lampard’s stats 09/10. The assist number did surprise me mind but other websites are saying 16 or even 17 assists.

Drogba’s best season for me was also 09/10 but I think Suarez, Henry, Ronaldo all had better individual seasons

Assists on some websites include things like penalties won, can’t remember which ones include it or don’t. Which is why the number looks higher on some.

Agreed Drogba’s 09/10 season was awesome, 29 goals only 1 was a penalty

All great seasons but not compared to some in the list

Also, BK, I know I just think TAA has had an even better season this one

I think RVP’s last season at Arsenal in 11/12 but better than his first at United the following year

Also though this player was nowhere near as good as the strikers on the list, does anyone remember Marcus Stewart in the 2000/01 season. He was a goal machine for Ipswich that year

De Gea (17/18)
TAA (19/20) Carvalho and Terry (04/05) Robertson (18/19)
Ronaldo (06/07) Kante (16/17) Keane (99/00) Pires(01/02)
Suarez (13/14) Henry (02/03)

Could maybe squeeze some other, arguably, more impressive seasons in there but I like the balance and complimentary nature of this team.

Cech or Seaman should be in goal.

I like it. If you have a 2 man midfield you can have ole 20g 10a, in a two man midfield that won the title with a heavily absent Aguero/Silva/Kompany, big Yaya Toure in there.

Pires is an interesting inclusion can’t really remember what impact he had that was so significant

posted on 10/4/20

Actually, Cech alone for 04/05.

Yup if we are including strikers based on purely scoring goals Kane, Cole, Salah, RVP, Phillips, RVN would all be in with shouts. The guys included were much more than just goal scoring.

Essien in his first 2 seasons was a monster of a player

Problem with Yaya is that you’d end up only have one cm when he spends half the time up alongside the forwards. So I’ve got with a midfield that would absolutely boss it and leave the attacking to the full backs, wingers and strikers.

Pires was grate in 2002, won player of the year in that brilliant Arsenal team. I was considering Hazard when he carried Mourinho’s bus to the title in 14/15, but given how brilliant Pires and Henry were together I went for the Frenchman.

It’s a shame there isn’t any stats from that time to back this up. But my memory is he had a really great season, but benefited because the defence was just so exceptionally good.

DDG carried a shocking Man Utd defence and the xG difference due to him was something insane like 20 goals. While making the 5th most saves in the league.

City won the league with a 2 man midfield that season though, and Yaya actually defended and tracked well.

Was mainly: Silva/Nasri Fernandinho Yaya Navas that season

He didn’t really, he was always out of position. City’s midfield was so open that season. He was great, no doubt, but the stats flattered his all round midfield play for me. A Kante and Keane midfield is better for my team. Especially when you consider how attacking the full backs are.
