China are giving these countries a better deal than the west. The problem with the west is that we always make a convenient explanation for everything. We never fail, its always just some circumstance that came into play.
The west was taking advantage of Africa, charging insane interest on loans and placing "extracurricular" requirements for getting loans and sheet. Once you take the loan they own you and since instalments are always late they have to do what they're told.
Basically blackmail and pushing through laws and regulations that allow investors from the west to move in and own everything. Do you want to be owned by China or the west?
This went on for many decades. China eventually came of age and saw the opportunity and swooped in with cheap unconditional loans. They took advantage of the wests ignorance/arrogance and frustrated African countries were glad to shift allegiances.
European company builds grade A road for 10m plus a load of regulations and red tape and changing completion dates at will. No respect.
Chinese company does exactly the same for less money, respectfully in schedule and with no strings attached. China in Africa isn't any worse than the west but the rhetoric in the west is to make out like China is destroying Africa because the west has been shunned. Its typical actually.

China in recent times have allegedly sent convicts to Africa for all their building projects which is crazy given the amount of unemployed in Africa.
China are in Africa for their own needs, not for Africa. Playing a long game given the huge natural resources at stake.

China are giving these countries a better deal than the west. The problem with the west is that we always make a convenient explanation for everything. We never fail, its always just some circumstance that came into play.
The west was taking advantage of Africa, charging insane interest on loans and placing "extracurricular" requirements for getting loans and sheet. Once you take the loan they own you and since instalments are always late they have to do what they're told.
Basically blackmail and pushing through laws and regulations that allow investors from the west to move in and own everything. Do you want to be owned by China or the west?
This went on for many decades. China eventually came of age and saw the opportunity and swooped in with cheap unconditional loans. They took advantage of the wests ignorance/arrogance and frustrated African countries were glad to shift allegiances.
European company builds grade A road for 10m plus a load of regulations and red tape and changing completion dates at will. No respect.
Chinese company does exactly the same for less money, respectfully in schedule and with no strings attached. China in Africa isn't any worse than the west but the rhetoric in the west is to make out like China is destroying Africa because the west has been shunned. Its typical actually.

China in recent times have allegedly sent convicts to Africa for all their building projects which is crazy given the amount of unemployed in Africa.

In what way? I don't think the UK figures are false, just misleading given who gets tested. China on the other hand are just downright lying.

They managed to create this mess, tried to hide it, and now here we are

They injected an animal with a coronavirus.
There's actually more a case for saying the UK created mad cow disease after people fed cows infected sheep remains, which is what caused it.
Some people just need somebody to blame.
Although China does need to learn from this and realise that the quicker they get information out, instead of trying to suppress it, the more time other countries have to relax.
