Can add at least another couple of thousand to that when you add in the care home deaths.

An absolute scandal.

It’s so easy to be wise in hindsight.

This is unprecedented in our lives, however South Korea has had experience of Bird flu and SARS and was somewhat prepared for this type of event.

I don’t believe the Chinese death numbers at all, probably 10s of thousands higher than published.

We have the 2nd highest population in Europe on a relatively small island so it’s likely we will have a higher death rate
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets have a party then shall we?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No - not at all. But give some credit for mobilising and building 5 Nightingale hospitals in a few weeks which has meant the NHS is coping for the time being.

We’ve known about the risk since late January.

Yes 'we've known since January'. They've known since December.

They way the Terrorist I mean Tories hide the amount of total deaths is a scandal in itself. They only release figures from deaths within the NHS.

There are alarming similarities between Boris and Trump supporters. Both seem brainwashed to never criticise their hero even when they make such obviously stupid decisions.

The thing is Boris/Trump's ambitions are purely to stay in power and keep growing the inequality gap. They have worked out that if you go in hard on issues like Brexit/ the fake news media there are enough people who will back them regardless.

It's a sad state of affairs.

The entire western world were poorly prepared for this pandemic and have nearly all suffered the same problems this government has. Were Italy and Spain any better prepared than us? Look at the US - they are digging mass temporary graves in New York State
---------
Except that the UK had a 3 weeks warning and decided to go with the herd immunity approach first.
3 weeks head start it is not negligible and a lot could have been done.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No they went for containment and then delay. Herd immunity wasn’t an official strategy - it takes about 2 years to achieve. Pretty much everyone had a head start on Italy - who themselves had a head start on China.

Truth is 3 weeks was never enough time for countries to source the PPE kit and scale the testing accordingly - that kind of planning takes months. No one was adequately prepared - but the objective of keeping the nhs under capacity has so far been maintained. Not saying there weren’t mistakes but we certainly aren’t alone
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Genuine question - do you have any doctor/nurse friends currently working for the NHS?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes - my cousin works in an NHS run hospital and has recently tested positive for Covid 19

We do have the 2nd highest population in western Europe and London, like New York and other similar densely populated areas, are always going to be massive hotspots.
People blaming governments for the fact every country is trying to buy masks and kits and there simply aren't enough seems to be the wrong place to place blame imo

If WHO didn't ignore Taiwan Southampton University have said they would have expected 95% less cases globally.

Combined with the fact leading experts are now saying COV-19 has HIV characteristics, which they claim proves it was man engineered, and I think it's obvious where the blame lies.

It’s also tough to say ‘with hindsight’ when Italy were so obviously two/three weeks ahead of us and quite clearly an exact example of what was about to happen to us.

Completely different to HIV which has many strains and still no vaccine after 40 years.

Not only are they not releasing none hospital admitted deaths but many are dying because there is no one to look after them because all the specialists are on the covid-19 wards.

Worth noting that all deaths when someone has Covid are being recorded as Covid deaths even if its due to an aneurysm or cancer or whatever

posted on 14/4/20

Let’s not forget that the WHO on January 14th publicly stated that the risk of human to human transmission for Covid 19 was low. That’s the World Health Organisation FFS.

Why did they publish that? Because China told them - despite the fact that by that point China knew full well they had a crisis on their hands
