How many unemployed people actually live near a farm?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Most immigrant transient workers live on or near the farm in temporary accommodation

Anybody that's furloughed will be paying their own wages with higher taxes in the future.

It's the fat cat, global corporations that are scrounging.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure where this is stated to be honest, or is this just your opinion that the government will take back what they have given out?

So, if you’ve been furloughed:-

The taxpayer pays 80% of your wedge

Your employer might pay you the remaining 20%

You could also get £15 delivering for Amazon

Why the fek was would anyone want to work on a farm for less than £5 an hour?

Brexiteers should do it on principle.

It depends what type of work contract you are on whether you are eligible to work for another company whilst furloughed if your current employer tops up the remaining 20%.

And yes, furloughed / unemployed Brexitieers should be made to pick fruit day and night just on principle the stupid baaastards.

It is my opinion. However, can you give me an example in recent UK history when the Government hasn't taken in taxes in order to cover it's costs and borrowings?

Yeah it's a fallacy about piece work these days although there is a fair amount of modern slavery about but I that'd be less likely with a British national.

Come on Brexiteers! Put the Great back into Britain.

I don’t doubt that taxation will go up in some way shape or form to cover government spending. That is generally how macroeconomics works...

However I think the government would have stated already that if individuals who were enrolled into the scheme were to then be taxed in the future to pay this back.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's the most likely route, as they will desperately try to avoid increasing corporation tax or income tax for the top earners. So it will be the tax that has the biggest impact on lower earners that will be raised.

Too many Brita too happy to sit in Benefits than fo these jobs. This county requires foreigners to survive
-------------------------------------------------
4m out of work NOT getting benefits, were these jobs actually advertised or did the farms go straight for workers that'll turn out for less than minimum wage?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All of this under the government watch or do you think the farmers also organised the charters?!

It's just quite funny after all the Brexit lies.

You see the EU giving out PPE and ventilators which we wont have but will absolutely ship in labour from Romania because we want lettuce

We won lol

When all is said and done in 2-3 years, there will be free movement of labour across the EU / UK anyway. The UK economy will literally grind to a halt if not, and this example is just a microcosm of what is to come.

All leave voters accomplished is making both the EU and the UK immeasurably weaker.

posted on 16/4/20

Just to add that in line with the transition phase the UK is obliged to implement EU laws in regard to employment rights.

Which means the workers from Romania etc will have to "enjoy equal treatment" (i.e be paid the same) as UK nationals doing the same job.

Couldn't keep Brits out of the countryside a couple of weeks back.

Now, when they're needed there, apparently it's completely inaccessible

Sort out the work conditions and pay and British people will work on farms (hard grueling work deserves excellent pay). The reality for most workers is far from that at the moment

Struttocks - nope they should work the conditions the Romanians do. They are happy to do it. It’s this mentality why Britain will always need foreign workers. Many of those unemployed too happy to get benefits.
==========
This

Immigration has always been used by those who actually don't want to work as an excuse as to why they don't work.
If someone from Spain, Italy, France or Poland can could move to the UK and find a job within a month, then there is no reason as to why the "local" couldnt' have that job if they really wanted to.

posted on 16/4/20

Again like so many jobs, it's often the hardest and most crucial that are underpaid, undervalued and come with the worst conditions.

Will people take this message on board if and when things return to normal? Doubt it.
