Switzerland.
Snowboarding in the winter. Beautiful lakes in the summer.
Mondsee in Austria... Small town by a huge lake short distance from Salzburg
Breathtaking spot... Mountains, water, countryside while being half an hour from a great city
I'd like a summer house in Cavtat Croatia too... If we can stretch the dream a little

I’ve been to Filzmoos near Salzburg - and is beautiful- is that near where you talk of?
New Zealand or Switzerland/
Although I like England, so would probably stay here.
So many British people on here choosing European countries
Which shows just why Brexit was such a stupid choice
Hard to nail a country, but easy for the continent, Europe. It offers everything I could possibly want.
Mountains, lakes coastline, culture, food, languages, civilisation. And all close together, a weeks driving could get you to twenty countries.
For me, in order
England
France
Denmark
Italy.

Very happy here. There’s still enough of Portugal that’s relatively untouched that as our little corner is eventually overdeveloped, we’ll be able to find a quieter spot.
Although I could consider retiring in Northeastern Brazil or somewhere like Sao Tome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wait...you live in Portugal?
How come you’ve never mentioned this before?
Sao Tome..talk about off the beaten track

i'd move to australia.......in particular tasmania
would love to live there
a mate from my school days moved to oz in the late 90s, and to tasmania in 2007...best move he ever made
quality of life over there is amazing
hobart has a temperate climate like UK, but a better version of one, sunnier and warmer n every season, more like the weather found half way down france's atlantic coast
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I only ever spent a couple of weeks in Tasmania, when I lived and worked in Melbourne. I really did quite like it. But not sure it could ever really replace London for me.

Filzmoos is south of Salzburg i think, mondsee more to the east... Similar sort of distance out of Salzburg
Mondsee is just beautiful... Pretty much everywhere around Salzburg is tbf... The lakeside setting is perfect
Also... There's a little bakery just around the corner from the church that was used for the wedding scene in the sound of music... Literally the greatest bakery in the world... I could see my days out rightly with an apricot jam donut and a bottle of stiegl for breakfast each morning... Then get the dogs out into the fields and trails at the foot of the mountains... A wee boat trip on the lake...

Such an awesome place - when I was there I got addicted to lebkuchen and those peperami type things with cheese in them 🤤
I haven't got Austria near the top of my list.
It's beautiful but a bit right wing for me, and I find the German language difficult.
All of you people who've never been around Europe, should get out and see our continent. So many wonderful countries and places ,and it's all on the door step. Also so many different languages and cultures.
Having been around the world and lived in different places,I can honestly say,Europe for me .
I went to Hitlers birthplace near Salzburg (in Branau) - not for any type of worship 😂 - more to see it for curiosities sake. Such an ordinary little town. You could see the locals miffed that people were taking pictures like it was then most normal thing in the world
That’s probably what I’ll miss most in Australia - how easy it is to get around Europe and see so many different ‘flavours’.

Sweden would be high on my list too... Stockholm is a beautiful city but go up the country a bit to Hallstavik and Herrang area and its perfect
Lakes and coastline... Hot in the summer and winter wonderland late in the year... We stayed there with friends for a weekend last summer, really beautiful
