Living in countries can be quite difficult. The shine that you see on holiday can fade and the issues can grow.

I loved in Thailand for a while. What's not to like? Well quite a lot actually. 😂 Couldn't wait to leave and would rather move to the North Pole than live there again.

Would love to hear more about this...

Thailand is physically beautiful and I love Bangkok's mixture of new and old.

The people howerver are the biggest money grabbing, con artists on the planet.

It depends. A person could visit/live a while in England and love it and another person could hate it. All countries are the same in that respect. Depends in which areas you happened to be around. There's always good and bad IMO.

What charming people

Without going into a rant, most of the issues are about money and trust.

I bought a new truck from a dealer and had to pay for anything minor thing that should be done under warranty.

Also had to watch them as the serviced it as they routinely took parts off customers cars and switched them with faulty parts on their own cars.

Constant over paying of things. In my local shop, every time I went in that would increase the price.

Water and electric going off quite regularly.

Govt officials trying to bleed you any way they can. I was refused entry once unless I paid £25.

The underlying belief that Thai is best, in everything.

The funny thing is everyone thay hates some place says some of these things. Especially that last one. It seems to me every country believes they are the best. Its ingrained in the populations since birth, together with nationalism and national pride etc.

The dodgy garage thing happened to me once when I visited New Orleans. They knew I was a visitor and wouldn't be around for long so they facked me knowing they'd never see me again. Had a 4CD changer under the drivers seat which disappeared as well.

TBH, I recommend Thailand for a holiday, it's great, and the things mentioned above are not big things really, but as a constant daily occurrence, it becomes tiresome and after a while I just questioned everybody's motive in everything. It's just the way they live. It isn't just because I was a foreigner, they do it to each other.

If you have money, you are expected to pay for everything and if you don't you are called farang key neow, which translates literally as foreigner sticky sheite, meaning you are cheap. If you have no money, you are farang key knock, foreigner bird shiete, meaning your value is that of bird sheite - nothing. 😂😂

Certainly from the perspectives of corruption and competency, people don’t realise how good they have it in the UK, at least insofar as their daily lives are concerned.

England. Wouldn't want to live in a different country

Actually, without passport control England would become absolute hell pretty quickly. I’m imaging a Judge Dredd Metropolis and barren countryside within 30 years.

Wouldn't move back to the UK for a start once you have actually experienced what a summer is supposed to be you would never go back to the damp wet overcast misery that is England for a majority of a year.

Undecided where in the US would be best as yet, but Kansas would rank high. Australia is obviously a great place to live. Wouldn't mind living in a random euro city for a while but not sure I would want to commit full time unless the weather was dry/warm most of the time.

Malaysia would rate high, a polished version of Thailand. Singapore also a good option. Could do some middle east states but not sure I could do them for the long haul though they are very clean and safe. Also Costa Rica or Nicaragua would fit my lifestyle nicely. Buenos Aires also rates highly for me, the missus has felt out the job market there once already.

All agreed. If I had the choice right now then the tropic of Capricorn would be about as far north as I'd go except for a few places that are in the north but still have great weather.

Snow in the winter is cool and fun for the first couple of days, after that it is complete and utter shat and makes any time outside the house tedious as feck.

27-35 for me.

14-18 for me. Would detest living in a hot country, even a 2 week holiday and the hot weather becomes tedious and irritating.

On the topic of weather, ideally I'd like somewhere with good seasonal weather. Sun in the summer, snow in the winter, a bit of rain. Having lived in the desert for a few years, hot and sunny is really tedious. I miss some cold and frosty. When it rains here I have a little party and rush out in it.

I spent a few years in Eastern Germany.

Harsh Winters, hot Summers with Spring and Autumn as they're supposed to be.
