They do because clubs vote for it they can close the shop. That’s what Leeds are worried about. Their chief executive has already mentioned the prem pulling the ladder up and removing itself from the football pyramid.

With respect I think that's a totally unrealistic scenario.

The Prem saying that in light of corona virus they are amending the laws to close up shop and pulling up the ladder? So the Prem will always have the 20 teams like the American MSL? Doesn't sound remotely likely to me.

Also, what did Leeds Chief say? Might you have a link?

Well no, as it wouldn’t have to he indefinitely. But a two third majority among premier league members allows for this reality regarding promotion and relegation. They recently voted to complete the season, I believe, so I do actually agree that it’s an unrealistic scenario. I just don’t think if it ever got to this stage that Leeds would really be in a position to do much.

He says here about pulling up the ladder.

But since it is an unrealistic scenario, his can you use it to argue Leeds won't be in a position to do much? Unrealistic scenarios carry no weight, legally or otherwise.

Thanks for the link.

I’m saying in the event that said unrealistic scenario happens they won’t. But whatever, we’ll see what happens. I suspect the season will get completed behind closed doors at some point as it’s what all the clubs, and governing bodies, want to happen. Just need the okay from the UK gov.

I see some players are threatening to go on strike if the Championship is voided too.

Its a minefield, we will be in trouble if the season can't be completed, so yeah, have to wait and see.

I reckon there will be a few premier league clubs looking at proposing b teams in the EFL again if things go tiiiiiits up for quite a few clubs down there.

Yeah, but I really hope no club goes bust because of Covid. The repercussions could be greater than one would normally think.

Clubs that were in trouble already and maybe mismanaged perhaps.

I think that’s a real danger for quite a few clubs down the leagues. I don’t want it to happen, but I could see the premier league clubs looking to take advantage just to ‘help’ make up the numbers if needed.

Would be great for Prem clubs, not great for anyone else.

I've seen the reports and argument that there's too many clubs in England as it is? And it's contributing or is the main reason why so many are struggling. Think there's an element of truth to that.

Merge struggling clubs and unite groups of fans to support a more stable outfit? Controversial.

And then you lose the essence of what makes these clubs these clubs. The issue is more to do with them being neglected by the footballing bodies and government funding (even more so below the EFL).

England really should have far better footballing infrastructure given its wealth.

I'm a Leeds fan and ive kinda lost interest in the football atm. Perhaps its knowing that its not going to be the same for quite a while has made it easy for me to cast it to the side for a bit. I'm kinda treating this suspension as pre season, that's what it feels like.

Null and Void isn't fair at all, teams like Norwich shouldn't be able to prosper from this suspension. The season should be played out when its safe to do so, whether that be before next season, or instead of it.

They could cancel next years Euro's to allow the 20/21 season to start much later than August for all European domestic leagues.

As Man Utd fan, I want to finish the season but only if we can play in front of a full/maybe half full stadium to keep the safe distance. The same for the next season, if we need to play in empty stadiums then just cancel the next one as well.

Agreed. I’m a massive darts fan and they are playing from home at the minute but it’s just so bad without a crowd.

I’ve been meaning to watch some of that. Any good? Anderson and Gurney pulled out because they’ve got crap wifi.

Not really. Everyone is doing their best and it’s better than nothing but it’s nothing on the real thing.

Ya that was comical

I’ll see if I can catch a bit of it.
