Congratulations to Diogo Jota - Champion! Beating sour puss Trent Alexander Arnold in the final.
Even in lock down Wolves are successful.
I was surprised how entertaining it was to watch those FIFA games. The final in particular was gripping stuff decided in extra time with a golden goal. Diogo had been outstanding in attacking all the tournament but in the final Alexander Arnold defender excellently and closed Diogo down high up the pitch making it difficult for him. Just like a proper game of football. But the longer the game went on Diogo’s superiority showed more and he finally found a way to win.
Jota is also evidently obsessed with the Football Manager game and has taken Telford United from non league to the top of the Premier League.
By all accounts he is a real student of the game and a potential manager of the future
Talks going on between the Premier League and the government about restarting league matches to finish this season off. And evidently that may happen as early as May, behind closed doors of course.
Personally playing these games with no crowds doesn’t appeal at all but there’s a financial pressure to finish the season rather than give a refund to the broadcasters which would seriously affect the viability of some clubs. Likelihood is that every game would be televised live. And the government are evidently keen to provide some home entertainment during the lockdown
If they cannot finish the league, they could play the outstanding fixtures on FIFA 20 with a player from each team, I would fancy our chances of a Champions League place.
I was doing fine until I injected myself with disinfectant.
Well done Diogo, is there no limit to this guys talents?
It was interesting to see what the Dutch gave done in deleting the season, seems to be a bit knee jerk when there are potentially still a few options available. I think primarily they were sending a message that some things are more important than football. Our premier league on the other hand seems to be more worried about the financial and contractual implications of matches not being played. I can't see them being allowed to carry on even behind closed doors until a vaccine has been found. How else do you guarantee everyone's safety? You'd have to give everybody, players, coaching and stadium staff antibody tests before every game and training session probably. Just not practical.
I think they will have to face up to reality at some stage and simply suspend the league and determine positions based on points per game and start again whenever possible. Although it would be hilarious to watch the meltdown among liverpool "supporters" if we went down the Dutch route.
I see Liverpool City Council are carrying out an investigation into the impact that Liverpool v Athletico Madrid had on Covid 19 in the city. They will be demanding it gets replayed if they find out that any Madrid fans had the virus.
Agree with a lot of that oldgold but to me the fact that we don’t know when next season will start is an argument for delaying the finish to this season, not for abandoning it.
I can imagine this season being settled on some arbitrary basis and then next season not being able to start until at least autumn may be winter. Then we’ll end up with another incomplete season which is surely the most important thing to avoid.
My vote would be to finish this season properly whenever it’s safe to do so. And not think about the 20/21 season until that’s happened
I think the match threads need to be completed, even if that means playing behind closed doors. Don’t worry threadsters....just like Lizzy said, “we’ll meet again, we’ll have match threads again” until then...just try to relax and look back over some of the classics
Thanks for asking Wolfie and good to hear people are ok , I have found there is a good community spirit going, support groups for vulnerable people, taking care of each other, I have interacted more with people in the village than before, I am also doing cycling and cooking, big pay cut but that’s life, keep healthy everyone and remember to put your bottles out on Thursday at 8pm as the clapping drowns out the noise

i think the multi-millionaires of the premier league could be in for a shock when they find out how tiny a priority the wider public give to the return of football.
against a background of 20,000 dead, doctors and nurses dying and a prime minister close to it, the sickening greed of premier league clubs and players, and even supporters, just gains disgust, not sympathy.
Some light relief. I have co-written a single, (well, I wrote one word), with the legendary Mike Batt. He has been doing some live gigs from his home on FB for followers, and suggested folk send in random words that he would put together in a song. That happened, and the word I suggested, "floccinaucinihilipilification", was included (Mike said he liked a challenge). It was played to us all from his home piano a couple of weeks ago.
BIG NEWS! The single is now released on iTunes including MY word, "floccinaucinihilipilification". It's for charity, (NHS), and has a New Orleans sound. Mike Batt brilliance in writing and producing this so quickly. If you thought "Closest Thing to Crazy" and "Bright Eyes" were good, he's surpassed himself building this song around MY word (floccinaucinihilipilification, in case you'd forgotten). Download from iTunes for just 99p and it all goes to the NHS! https://music.apple.com/…/a…/welcome-to-wormtown/1509679189…

Sir Halfy is amusing and has a sense of humour. You however are the complete opposite and are clearly the virus on 'ere. So like all viruses, one has to eliminate them.
You don't mess with Sheriff Wolfie.
Just ordered twenty four bottles of beer and eight bottles of wine. Just doing my bit for local businesses you understand

Florida Governor just announced that we are going into Phase 1, ( except SE Florida ) which will allow restaurants to open at 25% capacity inside and social distancing outside. Retail stores to also open at 25%.
No cinemas, salons, bars or sporting events yet. It's a start and let's hope it works.
Hope that's not too soon Wolfie. I would say we are a good few weeks away from that stage yet and our infection rate seems to have stabilised if not reduced yet. Dont know about individual states but the US infection trend still seems to be upward from what we read here.
Way too soon Goldi, the US is going to Fack this up
