Puts into context how shiiit City have been this season. Their title winning teams the last couple of years would laugh at ~2 points per game.

I'm probably the biggest Man u fan on here but even I have to admit that Liverpool have probably got the most points per game so far this season

Wow some truly astounding revelations in this table

Not sure that was the point of it. It’s just a method to sort out the difference in games played.

I’m sure the author will be pleased that at least one person got so excited over it 👍

Surely it should be more based on form. So Liverpool's total would be their average points from their recent matches against Watford and Atletico. So their points per game for the rest of the season would be 0. Meaning city just pip them to the title as they would have a points per game of 3 if we use recent form which is a better measure for how the rest of the season would go.

Weighted ppg is another interesting suggestion

There were 9 or 10 games left for all teams in the PL. If you applied the results over their last 9/10 games to the table as it stood at close of play, then the top 5 would be the same but West Ham would be relegated instead of Aston Villa who were on the up and had taken 10 points out of those games whereas West Ham had only taken 5. In the last 6 games it was 10 against 2.
If the season was voided it would also be unfair on any team from any division that was in the running for promotion.
Got to finish the season somehow even if it means a delayed start to next season and these "athletes" have to play two games every week.

Table can’t be right, Man Utd aren’t sixth.

I’ll take it because City will be banned from the CL so we take their place

That’s a good idea,

a) insta 1 star shows this must be good.

b) points per game isn't really a great method. If everyone had played the same amount of games then it would be irrelevant. With 3 points ofr a win its very tough to claw back on PPg more than a point.

c) Its very obvious from the above that we should apply sound logic to the relegation battle. in the same way as arsenal have appeared for years at the top of tables before games are played.
Reoder the table to

bournemouth
watford
westham.

and relegate west ham.

d) finally if anoyone can argue LFC can't have the title based on above not being mathematically certain then It's logical that only one english club should compete in the CL as one one IS mathematically qualified.

See how no Europe at all for any club but Liverpool goes down with the knockers.

How does that work?

Yeah, what's weighted PPG?

Total nonsensical and a complete non starter points per game end to a season.

I vaguely remember when another sporting competition was prematurely ended without a satifactory result. and much to everybody's disgust. One of the players involved stated that they would be happy to decide who the winners were even if it was by playing darts.
And it wasn't F1 and the Arrows team.

I presumed weighted PPG would be implemented such that it favours teams that win against teams higher in the table or with higher PPG.

I’m now mathematician but sounds plausible I guess for such a thing to be calculated. The benefit of course being you’re attempting to counteract the potential anomaly of a team playing ‘easier’ teams upto this point

Alternatively, if they carried on with the fixtures behind closed doors, after negotiating an extremely lucrative new deal with the broadcssting media, then if any of the first team players contracted the virus it would give wonderful opportunities for youngsters to make their debut.
And the virus should get a new agent anyway. So many people have contracted it without paying a penny.

I suppose the argument would be why should it be weighted in favour of the tougher games?

I presume in that scenario it would put us above Chelsea, depending on how much you weight it, but the majority of games is made up against smaller teams which is why we are below you.

End the season now with final positions in place = Liverpool win the league

Use average PPG to measure league positions = Liverpool win the league

Finish the season = Liverpool win the league

Declaring the season null and void is a pipe dream and is only being pushed by those whose clubs are pure garbage ahem Spurs ahem.

Just give us the fecking trophy already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
Liverpool have not won it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
if it was to be ended as it is we have by 25 points.
