“ If we must play it out then it should be done when teams can play under the same conditions they started with”

Not really, a precedent has been set. Spurs started the 18/19 season playing home games at Wembley. From April onwards they played their remaining home games at the new stadium. Didn’t see many complaints from Spurs fans at the time

You're barking up the wrong tree with me on this one.

Although I hated Wembley I always made it clear that having started a 2nd season there we should finish it there. As I said yesterday I was surprised that the Prem allowed it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you're missing the point, a precedent has been set that's its acceptable to play home games in different stadiums during the same season.

Wretched though that would be if we began a season under those circumstances then thats how it should end.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And if social distancing is eased over the course of the season and by the end fans are let back in?

No team who haven't mathematically ensured their fate deserve anything

I disagree. There's no rule that says anything must be mathematically ensured.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Weird argument.

Whats the point in having a set number of games for a season then?

Games themselves are not decided purely on mathematical principles. There’s a lot of subjectivity in a game when it comes to the ref’s decision. So if the underlying premise for awarding points is based on subjective decisions, carrying that forward it is true that there cannot be a rule to say everything must be mathematically decided.

Yeah, was literally just reading up how they aim to finish this season, and thinking... well, what's the difference going to be by the time next season kicks off?

If they're proposing starting next season behind closed doors, and at neutral venues too, then you can't just switch to playing home and away at some random point. It's only going to cause one of the issues people have with the current season!

So if games next season really are to be played BCD and at neutral venues, then why would clubs play each other twice? Would make no sense.

Therefore playing each other once only would not only make more sense, making it 'safer' for all involved, but it would also be a great way to shorten the season, hopefully meaning that by 2021/22 that season can start at the time of year it would 'normally' do.

Ramble over. I'm sure there are holes in this scenario. Otherwise people actually paid money to think about this would've already done so...

On reading Gaffers comment. It was spurs that set the precedent for different venues in the same season, and they are the ones hoping the season is voided as changing the conditions in the same season leads to a loss of integrity.

So should they say behind closed doors all season? Can’t see clubs liking that. They need money through the doors.

Again I’ll point you to Spurs playing some clubs at Wembley and others at new WHL last season.

You've put it very nicely but if we don't decide things mathematically then sod the table lets have a ballot.

I vote for Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham to get relegated.

The number of games is determined by the number of teams in a competition. Nothing to do with mathematical qualification.

The purpose of the league and competition is to determine the best and most deserving team of which at this point is as the table stands.

Give me a chance I'm trying to eat my dinner and answer all points at the same time.

As I 've made clear I don't think it should have been allowed but oddly enough there weren't many dissenting voices at the time.

I'm not sure us moving ground for the last few home games is quite the same as everybody playing at neutral venues infront of zero crowds but I totally accept that it strengthens your argument.

Would you enjoy such a spectacle?

would I enjoy is irrelevant.

The point is its happened previously just a few years back so the precedent has been set

being 72 and diabetic i can ask the question - bearing in mind that 90% of the deaths from convid -19 have been over 70 with health issues and could have been expected to die within 12 months anyway, and the immense damage to the economy as well as football being done by lockdown, and that even 100,000 deaths only represents 0.15% of our 65,000,000 population - when do we say sod it, let's get back to normal and see some football ?
