Obviously there's no hope of our incompetent government to take any action so I'm pretty sure the premier league will be starting as soon as it can, and wouldn't be surprised if they're playing behind closed doors in June.

Personally, I think it's naive given the amount of efforts it will take (and take away from health services) in testing as well as the amount of people required at each game.

For me it's pretty simple. Cancel it now, give Liverpool the title, top 4 champions league, Europa is tricky, probably go for points per game. No relegation. Only really Leeds and West Brom would feel hard done by but that's a pretty fair outcome in the grand scheme of things imo.

The more I've thought about this (playing indoors) the less I think it's possible.

Would the government permit clubs to travel (potentially hundreds of miles) from ground to ground to fulfil the games?

Then you need to consider non-playing staff. How could physios treat players with social distancing still in place immediately springs to mind.

All it would take would be for one or two people connected to a club to contract Covid19, and games would all have to be cancelled.

The Fr approach is very cautious, no live sports until September. Some schools will open in some areas, and it will be phased in. Some shops will open under strict conditions. No bars, clubs, restaurants will open.

Correct decision by the french. Here’s hoping others follow suit.

Just finish the season on fifa with each player playing their own avatar individually and the manager setting tactics and subs. Could get the season done in a week.

Also they're aiming to test 700,000 per week.
Now that's a lot if they do it.

One thing near me, some restaurants are doing take aways to keep things going, is that the same in the UK. It's only worked for the cheaper ones.

Germany, Spain, italy and England have much more riding on the TV deals than Belgium, France and Holland. There's greater pressure for them to complete the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
From an holistic financial perspective - beyond just the TV deals - it makes more sense to start the new season on schedule than disrupt it if the outstanding games cannot be played over the summer.

Sky and BT would rather play on at any cost regardless to human life at stake. They couldn't care less. The season should have been null and voided weeks ago.
Couldn't care less whether Liverpool are handed the title or not. Do they deserve it? Yes. Would it always be tainted? Yes. That's nobody's problem accept Liverpool and their fans who'll be mocked forever more.

There's no way the league will be completed in time by jun 30th when a ton of players contracts expire.

Just bin it off. When will this Government grow a pair of b@ !!5? Or do Sky and BT run the whole show.

Apparently some players in the French league were anxious about playing the games. I'd imagine that the same can be said of some PL players. If social distancing continues then the players cannot be expected to play a game where they will come into physical contact with each other.

There’s still upwards of 4,000 new cases every day. It would be absolutely mental to even consider restarting the league anytime soon.

French league cancelled. 🤔
Makes sense.
Farmers league, crops waiting to be picked, so yeah, fair enough.

In other news, Italian PM confirms Serie A teams to return to full training May 18th.
Which is nice.

It’s good to see that not all Liverpool fans are trying to hide their agenda on here

What agenda are you on about? French farmers masquerading as footballers is not an agenda and Italian football is nice.
