“ If they are good enough; and as EPL players you'd suggest they were, then they will receive a salary from somewhere although it's not unreasonable to suggest it will be at a far lower cost to whoever takes them.
Some clubs may choose to speculate further but the longer this situation goes on the less likely that will be as clubs will lose fortunes and some will inevitably go out of business after a long enough time.
That about answers the points.”
And players lower down the leagues not on £100,000pw?
You honestly think clubs are going to but a player and pat a fortune in wages when there’s no indication when they’ll be earning revenue next?
I’d say the transfer market will be dependant on football starting again and clubs seeing money come through the doors first. Not the other way round. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Then there’s, as I said earlier, the complications of players moving around the country, or to other countries. Not to mention the PR of club x signing player A for a certain amount of millions whilst the rest of the country is either a keyworker, stuck at home on 80% or unemployed. Again it makes no sense.

So in effect, you pay for next season now but as this season hasn't been confirmed as finalised as of yet, far less they don't know when you will be able to attend next season they don't know how much the credit will be. I've been told it will be on an even spilt per games missed basis so you'd assume they'll start crediting once crowds are back but want the money up front to help them through.
The only revenue stream the big clubs are missing out on at the moment is matchday income.
With the TV companies unlikely to pay any money upfront for next season plus sponsors probably wanting to revise their deals, financial reality will really kick in after June 30th.

I'd like to think they'll restructure the deal to make it last longer and spread the "loss" over a period of time.
So say the don't pay the last 25% but have the next 2 years deal, they may offer to spread that "loss" if the EPL sign up for 4 years and accept no increase for that time and avoid the bidding war.

Not really as debtors don't bid for the right to be indebted.
Sky and BT know that competition is coming from the likes of Amazon, Facebook etc who have the finances to blow them away. The current situation is a godsend for them as they can get the PL to commit to future "favours".

They're not grave in the grander scheme of things unless you're not concerned about the welfare of the players, their families, the fans and the fact the vast majority of people are looking forward more to the development of a vaccine rather than looking out for the football results.

The only revenue stream the big clubs are missing out on at the moment is matchday income.
With the TV companies unlikely to pay any money upfront for next season plus sponsors probably wanting to revise their deals, financial reality will really kick in after June 30th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Before you get to next season, there is a final payment/instalment yet to be made for this season which will make up merit payments.
Many clubs will not go very far without this payment according to reports and TV companies are not expected to pay it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
fwiw I think the tv companies will show some responsibility and an understanding here
I'd like to think they'll restructure the deal to make it last longer and spread the "loss" over a period of time.
So say the don't pay the last 25% but have the next 2 years deal, they may offer to spread that "loss" if the EPL sign up for 4 years and accept no increase for that time and avoid the bidding war.
Maybe
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, maybe. Highly unlikely IMO but can't rule it out. Also, SKY and BT would ask for an arm and a leg in return.

'For next season'.
I'm pretty sure if your going to end this season due to the threat of a virus that will more than likely still be around till the end of the calendar year, at the least, then there ain't going to be a next season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A rather pessimistic view.
I sincerely hope there's a next season, even if it starts in 2021 like some experts are predicting.

I'd like to think it's in their interest as a damaged league set up with some clubs going to the wall would make for less of a viewing spectacle.
It's just like managing a decent debtor in reality. You know they are good for it; it's just a matter of when.

Not really as debtors don't bid for the right to be indebted.
Sky and BT know that competition is coming from the likes of Amazon, Facebook etc who have the finances to blow them away. The current situation is a godsend for them as they can get the PL to commit to future "favours".

I wouldn’t want this season to be given up on. But equally I don’t want it to be rushed back and have a pizz poor product delivered as a result. It could actually work out favourably in terms of planning the next few seasons with an eye on Qatar.

Void a season with 9 games to go, then start a new season possibly 5 months late?🤔
Yeah, makes total sense. 😂😂😂

They're not grave in the grander scheme of things unless you're not concerned about the welfare of the players, their families, the fans and the fact the vast majority of people are looking forward more to the development of a vaccine rather than looking out for the football results.

Who cares about the product? Its quality cannot fall below a certain point, its the Premier League after all. This a matter of survival at this time so it's hardly too much to ask for a few months, is it?
