The best budget laptop out there if it's any good.

The worst laptop available if it doesn't do what you want it to do.

I've never used or seen this laptop.

Get a chrome book.
You'll get a decent one for around 200 quid.

I'd check https://www.hotukdeals.com/ a few times per day and you should get something decent at a decent price. 256GB SSD minimum(ideally 512GB) and 8GB Ram

Not a fan of Google tbh, and a 200 quid chromebook's processor is pretty much a downgrade from my current laptop which is i3.

I've had a Acer chromebook for a couple of years, also a Sony laptop
They keep improving chromebooks and I find I use it all the time now. It's much faster, I can get apps now from Google appstore. It does everything I want or need, much faster, and crucially, much cheaper.

That Argos laptop is quite decent for that price. i5 is still going strong and 8GB is becoming minimum now.

With social distancing I’m not sure any strip clubs are operating at the moment

That's what I was thinking Kash, and it comes with anti virus software for a year too. The reviews says the fan is a bit loud but I don't care about that

Get a MacBook, spent £1000 on it 10 years ago and its still as good as when i first bought it.

OP, that laptop has a small drive space. 256GB would that do you?

Bear in mind, if you save games or pics, these can consume huge amount.

Also £499? that's steep in comparison to what it offers, imo

I don't save any pictures or games, I've just got my CV and a few other files like my driving license and so on.

The MacBook of 10 years ago are not as robust as the MacBook of today.
Same as the iPhone 5 was definitely stronger than the iphone 10

I never save locally. All my files go onto online storage or my googledrive

I have got a HP Pavilion and it does everything I need it to, and is quick. Seems similar to this one in the OP.

OP, so you;re after a laptop that has a decent battery life, enough memory for web browsing and watch Netflix?

Let's say you're a windows user, this is at a great price:

Anyone use Norton for their anti virus software too? I've always used Avast, and it's done me fine.

Looks solid for your needs and its price of £500. I’d say go for it. Unless there are specific uses such as gaming, editing etc there is no need to worry as much. Having an SSD is the best component in there.

I don’t use anti virus software and never will. After about a year I would do a clean install of windows and the laptop should feel as it does after you’ve bought it now.

Prefer Macs to be honest, currently have two laptops, one for work [2 years ago] and the other for social [5 years ago].

Both going strong,
