In no order:

Gabriel Jesus

Agree 100pct on Torres, Scholes and Drogba.

But I think Berbatov & Owen are a little underrated if anything.

People forget how electric Owen was in his peak and Berbatov’s not-so-great stint at United has unfairly clouded people’s judgment of his ability.

Most overrated players of all-time are Zidane and Iniesta.

Without doubt.

Probably Zidane #1.

I’ll write an article about those two some day soon.

No one doubts Berba’s ability. Fact is he really wasn’t that good and didn’t show up enough. Even for Spure his goal record was pretty modest for the main CF.

Yep. He was obviously quality but almost gets portrayed as one of the GOAT’s since retirement when in reality I can’t remember any era when he was even United’s best player.

Trouble with Scholes is he was so criminally underrated for a decade because the British game had more if an appreciation for stats and all action style that its tough to rate him fairly in hindsight. Also when he moved to the deeper role, the world did have an unprecedented appreciation for the likes of Pirlo and Xavi, but that isn't how he played his whole career and not where he played his best football.

You only have to watch our season highlights to understand how instrumental he was for us, and that only shows his involvement in build up and goals.

If you put Scholes in this Utd team, he'd transform us, i think you could say the same of any team in the league to be honest.

Scholes was fantastic but agree since retirement he has been overhyped more and more each year.

These are all very odd choices, some (Lampard and gattuso) were underrated and done the most with what ability they had and worked hard to play for some of the best sides in Europe.some (mctom and Jesus) who really goes on about them anyway. And greizmann is up for debate.

Mine would be

Rio Ferdinand
Van der sar
Scholes (loved him as a player though)
Ledley king (ifs and buts brigade)
Paulo ferreria(I’ve heard people mention him when talking of top back 4s and truth be told he was bailed out week after week by the others in that back line, every goal we conceded was near enough down to him and the reason we didn’t go unbeaten all year in the league)

Most overrated players for me:

Sterling - i don't think he produces those stats without Pep.

Carrick - good player who I'd love to have today, but not top calibre.

Neuer - he was world class for a period but always felt he was overrated and the bayern team he played in was underrated.

Btw my first three choices I know will seem controversial, I rated all three players, but just don’t think they are in the upper echelons like some (huge Utd fan base) do

Scholes must surely be the most overrated player to ever play in this country. Definately the most overrated England player. He was a very good player. That's it.
People go on like he's a supreme God of football🤢

Oooh swap Eriksen for Ledley King actually.

Forgot about sterling. He’s straight to the top of my list. The poorest attacking player technically at city, misses shedloads of chances but gets tap in after tap in due to city and to be fair to him great off the ball movement

.......

There was never an era where Xavi and Iniesta were Barcelona’s best player either.

Scholes isn’t rated as our GOAT by any United fan I know of either.

You are clearly taking your idiot pill again today.

Most United fans rate Scholes as one of our best midfield players ever. This is how he should be rated.

Scholes is indeed getting better and better but was still absolute class. He really was VERY good at football.

Tbf the only reason xavi and iniesta weren’t is because of Ronaldinho and Messi. Top of the top 10 of all time.

How am I seeing names like Rio and Scholes as overrated? Some of you don’t know football

I feel like I should tbh.

So many people need to be educated about how overrated Zidane and Iniesta are.

Zidane was great tbf, but many people laughably have him Top 5 all-time.

Iniesta was a good little footballer but not much more.

.....

And the exact same fate happened to Scholes. He was never United’s best player because in various seasons we had someone who was better.

That does not alter the fact that Scholes was one of United best midfield players ever and is rated as such by most of us.

posted on 5/5/20

Scholes outscored all of them comfortably. Probably close to Zidane, Iniesta and Xavi put together in fact although Ive not checked. Bet it's not far off though.

There are other facets in football though for sure.

Figo and Nedved are the ones I've really never gotten the hype about. They were good yeah but...
