I dont get how shorter halves makes any difference.
Player x caught Covid... he caught it in the 45 minute of the first half... if only we had blown the whistle after 40 minutes...
A lot of pointless ideas, why use a neutral stadium? Just play home and away as normal at empty grounds.
using one neutral ground seems stupid, more teams and staff at one ground closer together rather than having weeks between visits at different grounds.
The shorter halves idea is plain mental

The neutral venues idea is an attempt to stop fans gathering outside the stadium.
Good luck with that.
I think that the shorter playing time they were considering was to reduce the physical demands on the players to help cope with the lack of recent activity and gruelling schedule they would have to contend with.

No team will be playing at home, so, if they pick a number of games to be played and say so and so will play on that date, great!..
They don't say who's playing where than fans won't know where to turn up so have no need to travel!..
It looks like Germany now given the green light to restart with strict rules in place.
They've already had one player suspended for breaking the social distance rules before even starting, football world will be watching and learning!
The general issues across society are depressing enough, Jonty. Please stop your little crusade to make everyone as miserable as you. We can all read the news, but your constant moaning and bleating about how wrong it is to start up football again - in any country - is beyond the pale.
How about just give it a rest for two days, give the rest of us a little bit of a break?
There’s no moaning about anything, just reporting a couple of news links and their implications.
Only person moaning on this thread is yourself Long.
The sooner it gets started the sooner it gets finished!..
Then people can fight over when the what's left off starts the new season, because somehow I'm for thinking its not going to be the same!..
And if they split it into a North South thing then stuff it, it won't be worth watching!..
I think others are waiting to see how Bundesliga pans out first, to learn from their experience.
Jonty, that's how they're looking at it here, people know they're being watched!..
Again!..

No idea either.
Could it be something to do with player fitness levels or getting more matches through the course of a day at the same venue??
I imagine Taylor has latched onto something about minimising exposure to others, yet there will be no real data to back this up.
The real risks are around people in close proximity for extended periods of time, which footballers could avoid if drilled into them, and injuries requiring first aid and/or hospitalisation.
I don't think surface contamination is as big a risk as fear mongering videos make out and from research I've seen.
Half the battle is to convince doctors and players that those health risks are really minimal.
we will do what germany does, all the rest is just pointless drivel.
Of the 30000 deaths in the UK attributed to covid 19 only 343 have been in the under 45 years of age group. So the chances of a healthy athlete becoming a victim is extremely unlikely so people need to stop imagining the worst and let's start to get some perspective on all this and start living again without fear.

So if 343 are in the under 45 group, that means some will fall into the 30 to 45 group, that takes even more out of the younger fitter group!..

Do you have any visibility on the long term health effects to lungs, heart, brain and other organs if you've been infected?

You're right, we should have some perspective, this is a deadly global pandemic that we're just at the beginning of. There are huge risks for people's health here, of all ages.

Completely agree - reckon we are about 3 weeks behind Germany so whatever happens there will be mirrored here for sure
I don't see this similarity with Germany at all, they handled things very differently to us and continue to do so, we're much more akin to France, Spain and Italy in terms of response and affect.
I don't think its a given that we just follow Germany in so many weeks.
