You make a lot of assertions Duke about some reconstruction bringing benefits to the game. If it is staring everyone in the face then why doesn’t it have majority support? Why didn’t we pick it the last time we reconstructed?

I don’t know
Just an opinion from a fan (granted a casual fan) view point

None of them are doing anything for the good of the game. Every single one of them is doing what is best for themselves and themselves only.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dont be so scarfy
I'm not sure how that scarfy thing applies here but it seems to be the case
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think it’s scarfy
It’s worth discussing
And it’s opinion and guess work
But fundamentally going from 4 to 3 would benefit the game in general and most of not all teams at level 4
Increasing the top to 14 gives level 2 teams a greater target and improved chance of staying their
At least in principle
Your op focus on today only motivation and takes none of that in to consideration
Best way is to decide and have a season where everyone knows the target and prize
As done at the implementation of the original premier
Trouble is it kind of needs done now but that’s difficult
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agree on that
Was chatting with my eldest about a top tier of 14 and benefits and disbenefits of it.
Right now it's safe to say St Mirren and Hamilton are likely bottom half of the top tier and would be bottom 8 of a new tier of 14. Don't think I'm being disingenuous in that statement.
At present they play 3 games v Celtic and 3 v Rangers. Both OF teams sell out the away allocation. At a guess and to make it easy to calculate £30 a ticket and 8000 seats so £240k. 2 home games and one away then the opposite the next season. That's 3 home games v Celtic and 3 v Rangers. Take ticket sales, TV revenue potentially and food and drink sales its potentially worth £1.5M over 2 years to them
Now take two home OF games away and replace them with games v Ayr or Dundee. Are St Mirren or Hamilton going to vote to lose 500k in money?
I'm not so sure
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They quite possibly think along those lines
And it seems the power to hang on to the status quo is near impossible to shift
Another take might be in an enlarged league they might have some stability longer term

If clubs want stability stop paying stupid £ to players, insist on relegation penalties in player contracts and agree that everyone builds up xx% of their turnover As buffer in an escrow account for situations like this.
Nah, didn’t think so.

I say that but really our country can only sustain a handful of clubs. A business that only leverages their assets once a week can’t afford to pay people a decent wage holistically.
Yes, the average at Hamilton is still a decent £40k pa but not enough to retire on and need to be training for an alternate career so you are not really focusing on your job.
Any business with too much % income from only a few sources is a big risk and should be mitigating that. Here we are.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/547202/average-annual-first-team-player-salaray-football-clubs-scottish-premiership/
hearts are only doing it to avoid relegation.
fvck them
A good time to change other aspects of the game to make the league more attractive. We need to attract the next generation of fans or there will be no Scottish football in the future. Kids need to see going to a match as more than what they can watch on TV anyway. All kids should be allowed to go to matches for free if it's not going to be a sell out crowd.

I don’t get the stance of some on this. Tom English-despite what some Gers fans think-is pushing the angle from hearts and Anne Budge for some reason. He really has a stauner for her-it’s the oddest thing ever.
Even today on the radio he’s pushing how it’s unfair to have relegation, but also unfair that Brechin aren’t relegated, and that the pyramid system in his eyes is getting abandoned, despite them calling the league and choosing teams that haven’t actually won their leagues for a play off.
It’s all over the shop.
Ultimately, I think history will probably show that the decision made was the right one.

It does not matter how rotten teams like partick, hearts etc have been.
Being demoted a league, jobs being lost due to cuts etc, when they can still save themselves.
We all know celtic would have skated to the title, and when you are awarded the prize, hearts must go down, cannot have two different rules for top and bottom.
Still ain't fair no matter how many posters hate the jambos
