He’s played 47 matches against City, Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea. And scored 11 goals. Your comment just doesn’t stand up to scrutiny.

Ighalo’s not proven himself capable as a number 9 in the premier league for years, though. There’s a reason he’s been playing in China.

I agree. But if Ole is just looking for a shorter term option at CF and wants to strengthen other positions, Ighalo isn't a bad option. If all our forwards are fit, Ighalo is third choice at best through the middle. Which is okay in my book. If we could get Sancho, and keep Ighalo, I think we'd have done pretty well in this window

merry, I don’t disagree with that. I was discussing the point about Ighalo being a much better number 9 based on little top level performance to justify that claim.

You’ve counted 47 and haven’t included how many minutes in each. Are you including the games in which he was subbed on for 5 minutes? You’re also including the games he played when he just turned 18 ffs. You may as well right if Greenwood now.

I also didn’t make just one point, in my first response to you I stated he’d scored 8 goals in 10 games against the big six. Including scoring home and away against Chelsea and City. How does that not stand up to scrutiny. Surly his recent history is a bigger indicator of how he’ll carry on.

I certainly don't think he is. He's a viable third or fourth choice striker. Which is what he was being used as before lockdown. Newcastle may well sign him for 900 million, but that's nouveau riches for you

He started the vast majority of the games. You can’t make the claim he scores more often than not in these games then move the goal posts to a convenient time frame to fit your narrative.

merry, yeah hopefully we can get him on loan for another year. It’ll give us a chance to see how Greenwood’s come along and whether Martial is really worth persevering with as our main striker.

The following summer will give us a better chance to really go big for a top cf if we then need one.

I gave you a time frame in my very FIRST response to you which was 8 goals in 10 games. So no goal posts have been moved.

Many strikers have a good record against the big teams as well, would you point to their stats when they were 18 to devalue that?

You also know full well he didn't play 47 FULL games against the big 6 either.

That was when you moved them. People use Rashford’s goals in the big games at that age when talking about his record as well. I don’t see a problem with that, he was scoring in them.

I never said he played 47 full games either, that would be ridiculous as most forwards don’t. Especially when they’ve often been subbed off for being ineffective.

So say that then, it's misleading.

As it stands, his record in recent history is an excellent one.

I dont think many would say Ighalo is number one choice.
He's a good squad option under the circumstances.

I'd personally like to keep him in the squad. Has the right character which is vital in helping our young forwards mature

Martial should be competition with Rashford on the left, used in one of the split striker roles when we play the diamond, and ready to act as backup at nine.

He shouldn’t be our starting nine.

For me he lacks certain attributes to be a top no.9, such as off the ball movement and having the knack of being in the right place at the right time for tap ins.

However, the benefit of having a striker like Martial is it allows our wingers to interchange with him. Maybe in having Martial up top allows Rashford and our RW to score more? I believe the total amount of goals our front 3 scores is the most important figure.

Plus, if Martial doesn't improve, it could mean Greenwood gets more opportunities up front next season.

I feel he's earned another season as our No9. If we keep Ighalo and have Greenwood there are more important areas to improve imo... We have goals from Rahsford, Martial, Greenwood, Fernandes, Pogba and of we add a RW that's plenty of firepower.
