Best pl team ever...IF

The Invincibles team although a great side are over rated IMO, considering how many of those games were drawn.

Both that Chelsea side, the City side of the last few years and the current Southampton 'B' side are superior to them for me!

United 98-01 or 06-09. Only teams to win 3 in a row.

It’s fine margins, but going unbeaten is so difficult for that very reason.

Even if both teams went unbeaten, Arsenal’s had more magic with Henry and Bergkamp. Chelsea’s was more of a machine which people wouldn’t remember as much.

Has anyone won the FA Cup unbeaten before? Surely that's more of an indication of who is the best team ever as you have to beat all teams from all leagues and you can't just keep drawing like Arsenal did in the league. Guessing it has never been done as it is never mentioned.

in your opinion. If chelsea went unbeaten then they probably would be remembered as much as they are still remembered now. we had duff, robben, joe cole, drogba, lampard, gudjohnsen, all creative players.

This was just a conversation that was sparked by I think jamie carragher when talking about "greatest" pl team ever when most think leicester or arsenal. Not the best, but certainly the greatest achievements

No, they were exciting to watch at that time, with Robben, Duff and Cole.

Once Robben and Duff went and weren't adequately replaced the entertainment value went down.

Best PL team needs some context

Are we talking one season or more?

1 season its the Man C team that smashed all the records a couple of years ago.

More its the Man U team that won 3 in a row in the Mid 2000's

posted on 12/5/20

Neither, the United 99 team were, juggling 3 competitions is harder than 1

For me, Clive:

1. Man City’s centurions
=2. Man Utd 08
=2. Arsenals invincibles
=2. Chelsea 10
5th either goes to the Utd treble winners; Chelsea 04/05 or Man City last season.

Interesting to hear Nev and Carra talk about those teams. As Benitez/Mourinho styles were similar Carra thought the Arsenal team were way tougher - yet a more free flowing Man Utd side’s Neville thought Chelsea were far tougher.

I think the Arsenal team would be remembered more fondly had they not bottled the 03 title so badly.

Not sure any Chelsea supporter would have the 10 team over the 05 team.

I think our 10 team was the worst of our 5 title winners.

Whaaaaaaaaat!

Up until City it was the team with the most PL goals, biggest goal difference, scored 5 or more like 6 times or something. Had two players with 20+ goals thanks to so many won penalties. That team was awesome.

Like I said above depends on your criteria, if its a one of season PL team or over a longer period.

The Man U team that won 3 in the 2000's was superior to the earlier one for me due to more/better competition

Yup that's fair enough.

I do think the best team in a one off season isn't necessarily the best team overall given defences of titles etc...

I thought you were going stir crazy as well.

That 14/15 side must have been the worst to ever win the PL.

How we won it I don't know, it was a case of Hazard dragging the deadwood along with him and the competition seemingly not wanting to take us on!

Brummie,

We won the title but it was painful to watch at times, I saw almost every game that season but by the time the next came around I couldnt be bothered.

That team killed my love of football and we won the league

Winning the title 3 seasons in a row while also having success in Europe beats any kind of points record or unbeaten streak.

I've always seen that penalty by Anelka as the irony of ironies...

Just one kick by a future player & the fackin Goonz can still crow about being unbeaten...

Surely you have to do it over one season as after that season players will have been added to the team and some will maybe have been sold? You couldn't claim one team was better because it defended the title, when there could be 3 or 4 different players defending it from the season before.

Yeah, we were ok up to Xmas but after we couldn't give the top position away.

It was only individual brilliance from Hazard that got us over the line!

Players get added in January and leave in January.

Players get injured and players take their place.

The team is a whole, not just 11 players.

City 100 points? 100+ goals?
Style of play?

Best ever Premier League team IMO
