I guess play offs do generate some TV money so makes sense to keep them.

They can also do them at a large ground (so distancing is easier for the people who are required) rather than club grounds.

I'm expecting all games to be at Wembley.

If Bolton are not relegated will they have to start next season with their points deduction again? If so, relegation maybe favourable for them.

Wouldn't have thought so, or wouldn't it just be applied in League 2?

Interesting, that would mean for that to work in tandem with league 1, the championship, and PL they will also have teams going up and coming down.

The picture is becoming clearer.

You'd hope not, would be a double punishment for them.

League 1 teams are against ending the season as is and also against points per game. No relegation is very much on the table, and they are a long way from a unanimous agreement.

Which makes you question where teams are going to go. You can't really have a 27 team league 1.

Strange that League 2 makes a call without knowing what League 1 and the National League are going to do.

Only just realised Macclesfield had a pts deduction, which would indeed have given Stevenage a realistic chance to stay up.

I just assume that even though the season won't be played to the end, it will come to a conclusion and next season will be a new season - so no carry over.
So Macclesfield and Bolton will start on 0 points.

If Bolton are not relegated they must start the season with their penalty again. They cannot benifit from the virus because there was no way they were staying up.
Always thought relegation would be the hardest problem to solve.

But it is a season that will end, so you are punishing them twice?
They could argue that without the penalty they could have had better results and been fighting for promotion (long shot of course, but you can't prove it wrong).

They said no relegation, just need it to be signed off.

Just seen that the EFL have not committed to "no relegation" but that is what was voted for by the clubs.

posted on 15/5/20

there are several considerations here.

first that it's not worth these clubs while play behind closed doors.

second they need to sort out league1 with only 23 teams there now so promotion to league 1 = 26 teams so 2 down to league 2 seems to be what's coming.

people need realise that national league clubs will sue here and the championship clubs cannot demand promotion when the bottom end of the football league are denying entry to their own league.

also 24 clubs voting doesn't mean the fa would allow it.

The Football League hasnt denied entry though.

So would it be 3 teams extra in the Premier League no relegation all round and make the lower leagues up from below?

There will be plenty of scope from outside the National leagues.

Loading the divisions with extra teams seems like a very risky gamble, for numerous reasons.

Seems a viable and one the fairest solutions to some but if next season has any hiccups, which is possible, it could be the straw that breaks the camels back.

I agree Footy but its a risk whatever they do but nowhere near as much as carrying on.

The infection rate is back up albeit hopefully temporary.

Scrap the fa and league cups for a year and as it is not viable Europe for a season or so.

Plenty of time if possible to fulfil a new season if we are lucky and it is planned properly and TV companies will recoup losses from this year with more games next season.
