On the plus side, when football starts up again sandy won't be able to give his opinion on games as he wouldn't have seen them... so there is that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
but what if sandy's mrs puts the TV on at the right time and channel, he'll have to watch it

Or if he accidentally gets off his rocking chair, reaches for the Wethers Original's and sits on the remote, typing in the number for Sky Sports, with his butt cheek.

Just got back from my first round of golf in months. Great that some kind of normal is resuming. Prem football will be icing on the cake.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Really happy mate. Normal life very slowly easing back. Deaths are much lower again today, definitely heading in the right direction. For all the stick the British public get, I think the vast majority of us have done brilliant the last few months and it’s showing now. Time for the footy to come back and shops etc opening next month. Bars/restaurants, then holidays next. Let’s get the economy rolling.

Oh and let's quickly forget about the 35,000 that have already died, so we can all go back to enjoying ourselves again. That's the most important thing, that we all get back to the pubs and the footie.

Sandy, who’s forgetting about them? If you want to fester in you’re home for the rest of you’re life, be my guest mate, but I refuse to bow down the mass hysteria. Does that mean I haven’t respected the lockdown ? Of course I have. I haven’t seen any of my family or friends now for nearly 3 months. I have gone by all government guidelines, plus I’m a key worker. That being said, I can’t wait for life to resume back to normal and yes that includes drinks by the river socialising with my friends. Can’t wait for the football. Can’t wait to travel again.

Wel, well, Sandy ...............sounds like your "season has ended" was a little premature?
Now then...pubs are a different matter.........
Many of them will be "ended".
And I do agree with you that it remains to be seen how COVID-19 continues to infect the population as Boris lifts the restrictions.
On the bright side there seems to be some progress on the vaccine front..............
but it will be a battle to manufacture and price the first vaccines, if they are proven to work...

Meanwhile we have to deal with the orange-haired baboon over here

The same thing happened in 1918 with the Spanish flu, then the second wave hit, and it was even worse, because restrictions were lifted to early.

I fear history is about to repeat itself.

Let's not forget about them, but let's recognise the number of infections and deaths continue to fall which means that restrictions can be lifted in line with what scientists are saying here and all over the world. Not what sandy thinks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That is what happened in 1918 and it was worse second time around. Just commonsense not to lift restrictions. Not what I think.

It was worse second time around in some places only. In other places it was less potent the second time.

In 1918 pubs stayed open the whole time and there was never any kind of restriction on gatherings. If it is common sense not to lift anything why has pretty much every country in the world lifter things to a certain extent? Do you know more the virologists and scientists sandy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you also know more than most of the scientists who think it is far too soon to lift restrictions.

Completely different era Sandy. More disease was rife and there wasn’t anywhere near the level of medical care like we get now. Not to mention people died a lot younger in those days anyway.

In fairness, he would be able to.

There are people out there that believe easing will lead to a more severe second peak. But that's fairly inevitable, there is such a range of opinion out there in terms of % of people likely to have already had the virus and the % likely to have had asymptomatic versions. And also a range of opinions of our ability to track and trace.

The majority believe it's reasonable to lighten the restriction though which is why we're seeing that policy implemented across the world.

Restrictions are being lightened because it is impossible to control the selfish masses and the economy needs to be kicked back into gear.

The virus is as dangerous as it was, more so in fact as more people now have it and can spread it, numbers are generally not dropping by big chunks and in the US many states are still seeing a rise in cases but that hasn't stopped them getting back to normal.

Biggest lesson from all this is what an absolute bunch of s we are generally surrounded by.
