I can't wait, football, sun, BBQ's, beer in the new garden

Relegation will be interesting and the battle for top 5 looks tasty too.

It's going to be a very odd feeling for all.

Subdued title celebrations I suspect. The only amusing part of this sorry situation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You could see many places open for business by season end and a title celebration then. Italy are opening bars from next week, two weeks earlier than previously planned.

I dont think United will finish above city whilst Pep is there.

City?

United need to focus on finishing above Arsenal first.

yeah as long as no Covid-19, I'd take that!

Strange, generally football in summer is either due to WC, or EC or Olympics. But like I said, would take it!

It’s gonna be awkward completing European competitions. French and Dutch teams won’t be able to host matches.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It will be a tournament style in Istanbul so all teams travel to Turkey for CL and wherever the Europa final is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Uefa president has said that if they cannot play in their own country they’ll have to arrange it at a neutral ground, so I doubt what you’re saying will happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also I doubt they would make all teams go to turkey where the hygiene control will be questionable. If they do a tournament style then it will most likely be Germany where strict protocols can be implemented.

After the German football I'm not at all excited. I'll watch United but that's it.

Looking forward to seeing Rashford, Pogba and Fernandes together. Even if it's only for 9 games.

Hopefully we make a surge to 3rd or 4th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They'll have not played for 3 months (more for the two injured). It'll be pre season mode.

Before the shut down I was quite confident we would get into the places for CL football. We had some great momentum going.

It will now be all about who can hit the ground running.

Yeah we were, the only concern was the number of games we had in a short space of time.

Form and momentum are out the window. There'll be a pre covid table and post covid table and id imagine it'll look very different.

posted on 18/5/20

It’s true to an extent that form goes out the window but watching Dortmund and Bayern this weekend, it does show that quality is still something that doesn’t necessarily go away. They won their games with relative ease and seemed to have prepared well.

It’s hard to predict but given how many games are going to be played in quick succession, it could end up making smaller teams suffer a lot more than they usually would. I wouldn’t be surprised if they bigger sides are more consistent due to being able to rely better on their individual quality, as opposed to fitness and organisation.

That could benefit us with our fixture list, where we’ve a lot of smaller sides that have frustrated us with good organisation and intensity levels off the ball.

I think the biggest difference will be how players have looked after themselves and how coaches have kept in touch.

Wonder how it'll affect next season too

Strange as I read various posters guarantee this would not happen.

Yeah it'll be good to have it back though. I think it's going to be really interesting and other than us finishing top I've no idea what will happen.

Simple guesses.... City to not do well by their standards, Chelsea to push on, Arsenal back to square one.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting others think city will not do well, been saying they’re approaching a decline soon for some time. When you look at their squad, it arguably needs an overhaul.

Lost Kompany, a good few payers north of 30 (Otamendi, Silva, Fernandinho, Aguero, Bravo) and a few players 30 next season (Mahrez, Walker and Gundogan) plus the fact they will lose Sane to Bayern.. I don’t care how much they spend, that’s a big big overhaul needed.

Throw in the fact a few of their players seem less than motivated to return and play (Aguero, Sterling), I think they could perform really poorly when things kick off.

Just a feeling but if United get a couple of decent signings in the summer, I’d predict we will finish above city next season. Almost feels like our squads are at opposites, theirs approaching the end of a cycle of dominance, and with our youthful team yet to hit its full stride.

Just a feeling and expect some backlash on that, but genuinely what I think right now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been thinking that the next full season could throw up some strange results. We just don't know how any squad will react after this. What their priorities will be etc. If (big IF I know) United get it right then we could be Liverpool's main challengers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The next nine games is going to throw up a load of utterly bizarre results.

It’s going to be a lottery.

Don’t dispute that, but comments like this “the site is full of void the season articles” are just a complete lie.

Some people want to peddle this myth because it gives them the basis to argue, to claim that everyone is bitter about Liverpool etc etc.

All of the sensible comment just gets brushed aside.

And given that several major leagues are being cancelled, what about the people who hold that opinion because they think that’s the best approach?

Not everything is about Liverpool.

Any sort of momentum any side had will have well and truly dissipated.

Some players are going to be visibly unfit and I’d expect we’ll see a raft of niggly injuries in the first few weeks.

Some players won’t have kicked a football in earnest for longer than they usually do over the summer break, and will look seriously rusty. Other won’t handle the behind-closed-doors scenario so well.

Performance and cohesion will be a lottery, because we’re going to see what is effectively a new season in terms of preparation (ball drills, tactical drills, modes of play, etc.) with a shortened pre-season.

I didn’t catch any of the games, but I’ve read in various places there were a very mixed bag of performances in Germany at the weekend.

Without fans and atmosphere for me there isn’t football. It’s extremely dull. You couldn’t have a cup final like that surly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Please learn to spell surely. Surly is a different word, which is what I am seeing an educated person keep getting it wrong.
