Yeah I just read the story, the quotes from Riise. Totally mad.
Riise says he could have smashed him if he wanted to but didn’t as it would risk his Liverpool career. Sorry but I don’t buy that for one second. If a teammate is attacking you with a golf club and you knock him out, he’s the one that will get in trouble. Sounds like he just got scared and did nothing.
My memories of him are that he was a hard-working player who gave everything he had. Not what I would call a great player but a useful team member.
Cult hero in the terraces, probably of every club he played for. Loved Bellamy, especially when he smoked Ferdinand at Old Trafford, just a shame about the end result ☹️

Couple of days later Liverpool go to the Camp Nou for a CL quarter game.
1-0 down Just fire half time. Bellamy nods one in for the equalizer. Celebrates with a big golf club swing celebration.
Not to be outdone, Riise know I the winner in late in the second half. Poetic
I wonder how long it took him to decide which club to use. Obviously a wood was not practical. A short iron (7/8/9) would have been my choice.
