Go easy on them. They aren't like everyone else who is at work. They have more protection from covid than 99% of people working atm, earn millions and have only had a few months off (at full pay). They deserve a break! 😅

If they can't isolate properly and do their jobs ,with the measures and money available, football is doomed.

Exactly!

Happy for there own club to make a huge loss because no game means no revenue but will happily take the full wages and stay at home and play Fifa or look for prostitutes to bang.

My opinion on it is they should have the right to refuse to play but should get the same pay as any of us if we refused to come to work at this current time.

It's the player's right not to play if they don't want to. Whether they get paid is between them and the club.

Why does their salary always come into this discussion? They're human beings, just with a unique skill set which merits good money.

Why would anyone get angry at Troy Deeney for not wanting to put himself more at risk of getting the virus when he has a 5 month old baby with breathing difficulties?

Is that why you've never been to a Spurs match?

Zero sympathy for them. Its a job, play or don't get paid.

Premier League Footballers are in a privileged position where they can choose not to. Most of us have to take a risk and go to work, but why if you don't have to?

I get Deeneys point but truth is hes fortunate to be in such a privileged position. He cant sit there and try tell me he cant keep his kid safe whilst playing football on his salary.

Lot of its coming from watford all of a sudden, at the start of it deeney said players like him will stay fit at home and will be ready, now hes changed his tune and players from that particular club are coming out with allsorts. Mariapas out now saying hes got cv19.. probably pushed to by watford owners in a desperate attempt to avoid relegation.

Okay if it's only entertainment then they shouldn't be on such high wages, they should play for free as a matter of fact.

complaining about how much footballers make is so wack

I don't think so, I think Deeney has a good reason to not want to play.

"It was a big surprise because I haven't really left the house," Mariappa, 33, told the Telegraph.

"Apart from some exercise and the odd walk with the kids, I've mainly just been homeschooling and keeping fit.

"My lifestyle is very quiet, certainly no parties or going out or anything, so I really don't know how I got it."

"If it wasn't for the fact I had gone back to training and had this test, then I'd never have found out that I had the virus and I would just be getting on with things as normal. That's obviously quite a strange thought."

Chances are Deeneys prob already facking got it

If I refuse to go work they will stop paying me. Same should happen with them.

i wonder how many more will be like deeneys team mate mariappa tbh, staying inside sticking to lockdown rules etc but still contracted it and not even knowing about it until getting tested.

It's nothing to do with what they earn. It's the fact that the club is still paying them when there is no revenue coming in. It's unsustainable.

Other industries where money is not coming in the staff have been put on furlough.

Because it's their job. They get paid for it. Cashier has to go to work because it's her job, same is with players!
