I don't care which political way you swing - I'd love to rip into the Tories for anything - but the simple fact is this was completely unprecedented and decisions made were made with what was available at that time.

I said 3/4 weeks ago that I agreed with lockdown continuing. I was aware that the economy was slipping and the balance of lives lost to other things like mental health was potentially nearing tipping point for us.

However, we went into lockdown to ease the pressure on the NHS. To slow the curve. It did that and the graphs you can see anywhere did that.

I am not for one minute saying let's go back to normality right now but we have to ease it off to enable something of an economy to survive whilst also doing what we can to prevent the vulnerable.

We only know now having suffered thousands of deaths exactly where the vulnerable groups are. We could have said no lockdown and identified the groups much the same but with how many more deaths?

Now that we know the vulnerable groups and the likely virus passing method then we can get back to sort form of life making sure the vulnerable are protected - educated by what we have learned

I agree with the phased return but with no economy to return to then we are all fvcked

Only decisions weren't made with what they had available.

It's since come to light that political decisions were (or in many cases weren't) being made after ignoring the scientific advice given to them.

There was plenty of information and alarming warnings given out by the WHO long before the Government did anything.

They also ignored WHO advice, let alone their own scientists. They didn't stock PPE for years despite knowing it was needed prior to this pandemic.

I'm not saying that the Lockdown should continue indefinitely.. just until we have a testing and tracking system in place to combat any outbreaks.. in order that we avoid a second spike.

valid points made by everyone

would be interested to know someones opinion on the whole thing who've been directly effected by a death or a serious bout of it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's it, if you do not have it or know those who passed with it, you may as well think nothing is wrong, and that is human nature ..how we blank schite out and survive.

I got sent home due to asthma and age and everyday I cycle hard up hills etc to get my lungs strong and clear.

Up to Wednesday that is, when I felt like death warmed up and now I await the covid test result....could be this time tomorrow as it's up to 48 hours.

My severe headache is gone, but still feel weak, tired and crazy night sweats, without the fun.

If I get it full blown, I will let you know.Been off the beet this week, so might crack one or ten open tomorrow to prepare for covid result day....Happy fookin weekend, pal.🌝

Its weird, now that my head is not sore I keep thinking I have the dry cough and my breathing is weaker, just to keep up appearances, LMAO.

I have full sympathy with anyone affected by any virus or disease, far more with someone who has had a friend or family member died, but that's emotion.

Almost akin to anyone here would take the life from anyone who physically harmed their children to any degree.

Just human nature bud.

You have a life history that impacts you alone, and now a family and circle you care about, and for all our modern virtual singling about feeling each other's pain or walking in another person's shoes, it only really hits home when it comes home.

Here endeth my latest loony lesson.

It's not about everyone avoiding catching the virus.. it's about preventing massive exponential spikes in cases.

Throwing heaps of grotty kids together is a recipe for disaster 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well here's some breaking news for you.

There will be a second spike. maybe a third and even a fourth, fifth etc etc

It may even just become another thing people die from, like cancer, obesity, alcoholism and the like. That's what not having a vaccine means. You just get on with your life and do things differently to protect yourself. You don't get practically imprisoned in your own home with most of the population being out of work.

To be fair, successive governments for about 50 years were happy to let people think that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He did similar as the Scottish Chief Medical Officer, and the Tories went mental for her to be sacked.

If Cummings doesn't resign it will be farcical.

He sent a mail to BoJo asking permission saying if I don't hear back in 24hrs I'll assume you are OK with it. He was a bit behind with his mail at the time.

Can't wait to see how many cabinet ministers Cummings is gonna take down with him

I guess this is what happens when you make enemies of everyone, whether it be members of your own political party or the majority of the media/press.

If the history of newspaper exposés (especially joint investigations) tells us anything, it's that the latest reports are only the tip of the iceberg.

We'll have several days of headlines, each one piling more pressure on. I suspect the Guardian and Mirror didn't wait six weeks to break this story without some physical evidence.

FoI requests to Durham police could reveal ANPR or CCTV footage of him touring about. And I'm sure Durham police will be happier than normal to oblige given that 10 Downing Street are accusing the force of lying.

The Sunday Politics shows tomorrow will be enjoyable.
