As someone else said if you need fans on television to enjoy the sport perhaps you're not actually that into the sport.

This. You'd think people moaning about it didn't actually watch the sport. It's different but absolutely better than nothing.

Yeah it's far from ideal but welcome to the real world 2020

I have to say I agree 100 per cent with him. Not that I have ever danced with my sister.

How can you agree with him if you’ve never danced with your sister ?

Not for me pal. Complete non event. Fortunately the very successful Spanish manager agrees with me.

I agree about football being played behind closed doors.

Just not the bit about dancing with his sister.

Where's the rest of his comments?

“But you also have to understand it’s a business that generates lots of money, and even if the spectacle is a long way from that when there’s fans it can help in dealing with the confinement.

“Watching football again or any other sport, as a fan it’s interesting,” he added.

Luis Enrique returned to his job as Spain coach in November after resigning last June to take care of his daughter, Xana, who died in August of cancer.

“(As a player), I would have liked to get back playing as soon as possible. I have no fear,” he said.

“I was a bit scared at one moment for my parents, my in-laws and the elderly people I cherish and above all for the people who may suffer. But on a personal level, I have zero fear.”

Euro 2020 has been postponed by a year due to the health crisis and Luis Enrique admitted the uncertainty was affecting everyone involved.

“We’re going day by day. We’re waiting for football to return and later down the line we will restart with some friendlies.

“In theory, the national team should play friendly matches in September as usual. But there are more important things right now so we need to be patient.”

Football behind closed door is like Alcohol Free Lager

Give it 20 minutes and you've sacked if off, ordered a pint of Stella and getting an Uber

Which completely destroys Sandys article which relied on Enriques comments to rally against behind closed doors footy - which will be in place probably until January 2021

If you can't watch football with no noise then you're not a fan of football, you're a fan of "atmosphere"

Nobody likes footy without fans, but what do you do mate ? Cancel football for the next year ? You say you want people to be sensible and not go out, yet complain about the footy when they do everything to help with the current situation. Nobody truly wants stadiums empty, but at this moment in time, what can we do ?

And fortunately that very same manager later goes on to say that it is better like this than not at all.

Did he?

I would imagine that is what he was inferring when he said "and even if the spectacle is a long way from that when there’s fans it can help in dealing with the confinement."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay. Not the same thing imo and the fact he mentions money is noteworthy.

I don't agree with sandy on this as you know, but I equally think there's nothing wrong with having the view that football shouldn't return.

Maybe you're a fan of the whole package, and a diluted product isn't for you? Like someone said, it's a bit like alcohol free lager. You've get the same taste but no buzz.

I watch probably 80% of my football inside stadiums so it matters a big deal to me as I know exactly how important the role of a crowd can have at key moments.

Whilst I've no problem whatsoever with football being played at the moment, it absolutely isn't for me. I got hooked on going to football as a kid due to the pull ofnthe crowd and the tribalism of it all. I still get that knot in my stomach as the roar goes up at the first whistle. Take that away and it's not the game I fell in love with, more of an exhibition or a friendly, and I only go to those for the p-ss up. I'm happy to just wait it out til I can get back in my seat.
