I think them mobbing his house when he has a young child is a bit OTT however he's a complete snake, the trip to Durham is nothing in comparison to him saying if a few pensioners die so be it or the fact he basically couldn't care about anything outside of England.

Also if Boris has had to back him today, when the easier thing to do would be sack him it shows just how powerful he is inside number 10.

Thing is 1000s of people have broken lockdown rules, however millions haven't, its a bid look for Boris defending Cummings, he could have publicly slated him but not fired him and all this blows over much quicker.

Yeh I don't think that the trip to Durham is a big deal. He was looking after his family. Its not a big story for me. Certainly not as big as the lass up in Barrow who has been beaten for not attending 'parties' during lockdown. Or the fact that people that are dying of various illnesses are being categorised as having died due to COVID. Yet this story about an inconsequential drive is the main story in the county. Madness.

Whether he was right or wrong, he was only doing what he thought was best and was certainly not deserving of the witch hunt from leftie rags like the Mirror.

News conference today was a waste of time too, surely it would have been more beneficial asking questions about a possible vaccine or an update on the antibody test, instead the media all bang on about Cummings, just shameful point scoring.

That’s the whole point, that the media and some politicians are totally blind to

This was all probably dreamt up, orchestrated and fed by Cummings in the first place

It’s playing out just as he wants it to, for whilst ever everyone in the media, and the Opposition Are focusing all their attention on this inconsequential matter, they’re not focusing on so many other things - this is all just a smoke screen, to deflect attention from other stuff

Cummings will still be in place this time next week, next month and next year, pulling the strings and dictating exactly what he wants the media and others to be focusing on

Whilst there may well be a witch hunt, that goes with the territory of the position he holds. He should be setting an example and his actions are entirely in keeping with what you'd expect from a key figure in the government of the worst affected company in Europe of the pandemic.

It's embarrassing, but embarrassing really isn't a strong enough word to describe how dangerous his actions have been. BoJo was always going to defend him, and tbh that doesn't really bother me. But DC's response has been dismissive and arrogant and shows all the traits that this govt are displaying on a far too regular basis imo

That "other stuff" obviously being the great job they're doing.

The point is, if a guy in his position isn't sticking to the rules laid down by his party and government, then how can the man on the street be expected to do so?

I'm not going to break the rules laid down, and tbh I'm probably going to err on the side of caution throughout the easing of these regulations. But there will be others who just think "fackit, if he isn't following the rules, then why should I?" So it isn't minor or trivial, as the knock on effect can lead to a chain reaction that is extremely dangerous
