The general population isn’t making to the rules either.

And the general population are adhering to the rules. Using examples of people that are not doesn’t change that.

Exactly, Joe.

It's a pathetic excuse the likes I've not heard since... a couple of hours ago.

Cummings didn’t break the rules either to be fair. There was less fuss than this made over noncey/Piers Corbyn waving his tackle about in Hyde park.

Boris getting grilled further about it in the daily briefing. Could tell he was annoyed at Robert Peston

Depends which version of 'the rules' you're talking about tbh, Lambeau.

Ours, or theirs.

Some are. Some aren’t. It’s not a few. We’ve all/most had family round in the garden or whatever, technically in breach of the rules

To be honest I couldn’t really give a t*ss. I want the lockdown/social distancing lifting because the alternative is far worse long term.

You can’t blame people for following the lead of government advisors

Not at all. I’m at a party right now, p*ssed, which is partly to blame for the tone of my posts. Should probably get back to the drink and lay off the social Soz gents

Great craic watching the torys rip themselves apart, pity it won't a difference but sure enjoy the moment.

The government did say if you can't work from home, go to work.

Tim Bale @ProfTimBale
We're at quite a pivot point/historic hinge here. If nothing happens and we all move on, then political accountability in this country - at least between, if not actually at, elections - is essentially over. Anybody in a position of power will be able to do pretty much anything.

You mean like Blair did with invading Iraq? What Cummings and the Tories are getting away with is nothing new, western politicians never get held accountable for their crimes and actions. Some of them get rewarded with a second chance on the government front bench.

They probably used episodes like these as test cases, although they probably know no matter how much they overstep the mark, nothing will come of it

Are you going to resign?.....No

Are you sorry for what you did......No

What about the general public who adhered to strict lockdown rules and couldn’t travel or have any contact with family members who were ill/dying........well that’s their stupid fault for not having the wherewithal to manipulate the guidelines

He filtered me after I said I do not wish any ill on Boris and hope he gets better. But that does not exclude him from criticism in the way he’s handled this, nor his past misdemeanours, which is a massive understatement calling them that.

He threw a tantrum about it

Yeah, his latest car crash article is full of the guy's usual traits. Lots of emojis, lots of 'jog on then's, lots of petty name calling and not even the slightest recognition for any post he can't answer with with any of the above - see What would Stuart Pearce do's last comment for an example of this.

But I've had to leave the thread now, as it was getting boring. Plus I genuinely was starting to feel like I might be cyber bullying someone with limited capabilities.

He's semi-retired, apparently.

Wondering whether he spelt 'retired' correctly though...
