He’s had a calf injury and hasn’t trained as long as his other teammates

He was on the bench in some of Dortmund's big games during the season proper too. Maybe he just isn't trusted to do the defensive work in the big games. Would be no problem for us with AVB being the best defensive RB in the league.

Have to say, I didn't know that.

Makes me worry about spending an absolute fortune on him?

Sancho is always first choice for Dortmund - the only reason he was dropped this season was for disciplinary reasons.

Today he isn’t dropped - he’s been injured

Can't say I keep much of an eye on other leagues.

He’s a superb talent and very much the number one player we should wish would sign for us

Addressing two points people have brought up, injury and work rate as possible reasons he isn’t playing.

“On average, Jadon Sancho completes 11.27km of distance covered per 90 which is just 0.36km short of Jesse Lingard”

As for the injury, it’s true he was injured but I’ve never seen somebody coming back from injury start on the bench 3 times. They either start their initial game on the bench and then start after another week of training or they don’t come back at all. Dortmund also haven’t confirmed that injury is the reason he has been benched.

We also haven't seen these circumstances before. It's possible that with limited amounts of team work and training in the usual conditions, easing players back into the first team squad is being treated more cautiously than normal.

A possibility Berba, I’m sure we’ll know more over the next couple of games.

This is what the Dortmund managed said..

According to Goal, Dortmund manager Lucien Favre disputed claims that Sancho was being rested for their top of the table clash against Bayern Munich and instead admitted that he might not play at all.

'He's only been training with the team for ten days. That is not much,' Favre said. 'I can't say for sure if he will play on Tuesday,' said Favre.
