"Gerrard was a cracking player, Barry shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as him"

You're right he shouldn't.

Unlike Gerrard, Barry actually won a league.

Barry wasn't even the best player on his villa teams

I know, just messing about.

Although to be honest I'd argue that Alonso was the better midfielder at Liverpool at the time. Cracking player.

Just a shame he played for Liverpool

Miller, was that situation where it was paid for over a good few years , similar to what Arsenal had tae do financially when they left Highbury?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw once that after it was completed (pre club deck and corners of Govan) rangers were in a position to spend so I think it was maybe similar to arsenal.

Holmes also came into the boardroom in 85 and got sh!t together after quite a few years of boardroom squabbles (sounds familiar )

See TBH football stadiums are invariably white elephants with nowhere near enough utilisation to make them economic. Arsenal went further with architecture, materials, facade and stuff and it is very nice but expensive.

No every club builds hospitality space, multi-use areas, meeting facilities, sometimes a hotel, restaurants & museum but they are competing with lots of other places for some of that and most are ghost buildings most of the week.

Murray had the right vision with the floating pitch BTW. Imagine a place with a retractable roof and a grass footy pitch, a rugby astro, a hockey astro, a hard surface for boxing, concerts, a gravel speedway or whatever, all just waiting to wheel into place and you could use the stadium most days of the week! Imagine the stands could move too - convert it to basketball, ice hockey, curling, TV shows, theatre? A train station & car parking.

When the stadium is the fans. When the seats are full that is what you see and hear. It looks pretty scheidt on the outside. Don't really care. Ibrox, Nou camp, OT, Murrayfield and hundreds more all look scheidt.

What changed in the mid 80's to make Rangers the dominant team for the next 15 years?

Money

Very similar to what we have seen in the last 9 years.

Murray field looks like a meccano set and the Nou camp is a tip inside

I worked for the flaming skull for a number of years. A man you didnt want to get on the wrong side of. Was tough but fair. He had some cracking stories about McCoist.

This makes me reflect on my time as a United supporter.

We were pretty scheidt when I was a teenager and 25 years later we're still scheidt.

It's good to have a bit of stability in life.

Wow Dundee United

I remember them. They had good players like Robbie Winters, Maurice Malpas, Craig Brewster.

I wonder what happened to Dundee United, are they the club that Airdrie Utd bought over?

I remember Goodwillie breaking through at Dundee United and thinking he was on his way to being a serious player.

Turns out he was a serious cretin.
