Stand up comedy GOAT’s

Off the top of my head I've recently enjoyed listening to stand up shows from the following. Great to listen to at work on the headphones.

Frankie Boyle
Billy Connolly
Dave Allen
Peter Kay
James Acaster
Bob Monkhouse (the Last Stand doc on iPlayer is well worth a watch)

One I also enjoy, and most here won't have heard of him, is Tudur Owen. He's a Welsh comic but he does shows in both Welsh and English. Well worth a watch if you can find a routine.

There are other people I find very witty as well but not sure if I could listen to an hour's routine from them. McIntyre's Big Show is good IMO but his five minute slots are better than a whole hour of him

Forgot about Hills and Minchin. They’re ok. Didn’t know Bana did stand up, was that how he got the role in Chopper? I bloody love that film.

Yeah, he was a stand up for 12 years and used to have a tv show in Australia. Think Chopper was his first major role. And yeah, a brilliant movie - ‘Neville bloody Bartos’

That scene is so good.

“Jimmy, if you keep stabbing me, you’re going to kill me.”

“I’ll give yah top marks for treachery, mate.”

Not contenders for GOAT - The Big Yin wins that one hands down for me - but some of the ones I've been watching to keep the spirits up in recent weeks and worthy of a mention are :

Christopher Titus - He's been releasing all his specials on Youtube during lockdown and has some great material.

Steve Hofstetter for his Heckler takedowns alone.

Gabriel "I'm not fat, I'm Fluffy!" Iglesias

and ofc, Joe Rogan!

I love the wit of Lee Mack. Possibly one of the funniest people on TV. So sharp.

Agree with this. He's brilliant on Would I Lie To You, so quick witted.

Lee Mack is one who I find funnier on panel shows and not as much in stand up. Same with quite a few comedians actually.

Bill Burr, he's hilarious. His latest one paper tiger is brilliant and I highly recommend it. His podcasts are worth a listen as well. 👍🏻

Problem wth WILTYis that Bob Mortmer killed the show. He is by far the best ad funniest contributor who regularly appears so when he isnt on its all a bit tame without him. Lee Mack who is obviously in awe of Bob and gleefully acts as his straight man when he sits next to him.

Been to see Frankie Boyle live three times and almost died laughing each time. He’s number one for me.

I’d add Hicks, Pryor, Stewart Lee, Jack Dee and Anthony Jeselnik to my list of faves.
