Track and trace is going to set a new precedent for governments to monitor citizens.

Or help the population to STAY SAFE.

I suppose if the government does this then they are damned if they do damned if they don't.Depends on what side of the fence you sit on

Yes its to stay safe, the mandatory bit and the fines is what irks me. I could be perfectly fine, but be forced into self isolation, call in sick, whilst nothing is wrong with me. Experts say it will only help in 5-15% of cases. No commercial business will ever deploy a solution if the effect is that low.

The part that will annoy people and cause people to not adhere is going to be the 14 day isolation without symptoms or testing. We know alot of people can be asymptomatic and so will not get tested. If the track and trace people arranged immediate testing then you would avoid a lot of needless isolation. Surely investing in increased testing capacity would be better than paying out for the sickmpay

Track and trace... If you've nothing to hide whats the big deal

I think the track and trace is potentially worrying. I have no objection to mandatory vaccinations though. If found, a vaccine will be an absolute Godsend. Vaccination programs don't work if you allow millions of people to just decide they don't want it.

Track and trace will just end up as yet another almighty Government mess. Does anybody take this Government seriously anymore?

Even if this track and trace was any good, it has come three months to late. Somebody needs to remind the Government they have already presided over probably more than 50,000 Covid related deaths.

Only a dictator would force something on millions of people that don't want it.

Track and trace has been proven to save lives, if the data is kept anonymous I don’t see the problem.

The thing is with these things, you don’t know who’s life it’s saved, if it prevents someone going out, spreading It and potentially killing someone you love, you’d never know.

For anyone worried about the data side of things, I think it would be very naive to think there’s any mor win formation being gathered than they already have, nor that they care about you enough to monitor you.

For me, I'm a little concerned about a mandatory vaccine - should we get one at all - being, by its very nature, one of the riskiest vaccines, given the speed and urgency with which it will have been developed. It usually takes years, even decades, to develop a vaccine, so all this talk of September or even next spring worries me a bit.

The mass extraction of personal data and the implications of that on the wider population are very serious. The influence of Cambridge Analytica on Brexit and the US election is a case in point. Pardon me but it would be absurd not to scrutinise every bit of this track and trace app. The information they store including your health history, could affect your life insurance, future employment and so on. This data is kept forever. Future governments 20 years from now may have a different agenda to the current one.

Why not used a decentralised app like in Germany?

These are valid concerns IMO and there's so many possibilities. We don't even know for sure if recovered people are immune which would make a huge difference IMO.

It isn't compulsory to provide data and the data that is gathered is heavily protected, in line with General Data Protection Regulations.

Any breaches would likely result in massive fines so there is a massive focus on managing the data correctly.

Track and trace is just the governments way of trying to make something they are already doing public.

where does it mention vaccinations in the article? I for one would refuse the vaccine and take it to court if necessary. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of these anti-vacc nujobs. I just would not take a vaccine that was produced and authorised in 6-12 months. Hec even 24 months. There is a long list of vaccines that have had adverse effects after approval through the standard process. Rushing one out like this signifiantly increases the risk. I can understand it for profiles with high risk of covid complications and fatalities, but it would be safer to get covid for a low risk profiles.

Statutory sick pay?

They're effectively punishing people for reporting. They can't be this dumb. It must be a deliberate move to show that they did 'testing and tracing' while being able to blame people for it not working, even though they made it unworkable. Sound familiar?

Like the whole lockdown familiar? Like underfunding the NHS until it fails to justify selling it off familiar?

This is what they should've been doing in February. Shambles.
