Why write this? Seriously, why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why not? It is an anniversary. Would you not say do not write articles about Munich on similar anniversaries?

Both were tragedies, both were highly preventable. Firstly with Munich, the plane should never have tried to take off, and secondly with Heysal, if not for Hooligan Liverpool fans, there would have been no wall collapse.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s not someone writing an article about it that concerns me, it’s the manner it’s written and the reason behind it.

And I don’t see the point in comparing tragedies either. However, lets follow your reasoning, and see if the op (or yourself) post an article on the anniversary of other footballing tragedies, be it Munich, Bradford or any other.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bradfords 35th anniversary was 2 weeks ago.

Not a peep from either of these clowns.

OPs intentions are clear
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No one is surprised at this

I won't talk about the tragedy or responsibility, I watched it on TV and read loads at the time.

Not in the same category, but I have always felt Liverpool fans should lay off Everton fans a bit.
They had a really good team tnen under Kendall and were denied their chance in Europa because of this. So less Neverton or bitter blues.
Also I do think Liverpool should have had a separate punishment, not just put in with all the other clubs.
Hard to imagine what it would be like on here it it were United and Liverpool got the same punishment

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool did get a separate punishment.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry, I meant the ban. What was the separate punishment? Sorry for misleading, didn't mean to.

Ended up them being banned for a whole season longer.Should have been 3 years but they appealed against that and it was reduced to 1

Also, the nationwide ban was a culmination of many years of bad behaviour by English fans. If Heysel had happened independently, then only Liverpool would have been banned.

Well actually

“ April 1991 UEFA's Executive Committee voted to allow Liverpool back into European competition from the 1991–92 season onward, a year later than their compatriots, but two years earlier than initially foreseen. In the end, all English clubs served a five-year-ban, while Liverpool were excluded for six years.”

That's a fair point, English fans then were notorious. Missing one more season was lenient imo.

If you watch it on YouTube the police didn't help much , they just beat fack out of anyone running near them.

Should have just fired some tear gas in and watched em disperse.

Still a real tragedy that imo is very forgotten due to it being overseas.

Kenny Dalglish was present at Heysel, Hillsborough and Ibrox in 1971. Poor sod.

It was a terrible tragedy and Billy is being insensitive using it as a stick to beat Liverpool fans with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not surprising considering he held up the Sun, saying they were right, in regards to their false claim about Hillsborough. This is the type of person he is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Resorting to libel now are we?

Took a long time for those connected with Liverpool to face the responsibility of what happened that evening. Initially they blamed everybody but themselves. The state of the stadium, the organisation, the Belgium police and the italian fans.

posted on 28/5/20

and as far as stadium disasters go there are others further in the past which are even less mentioned than Hysel these days...

An irrelevant point.

The OP called this the forgotten tragedy despite it being a topic of conversation every anniversary.
